This Year's Model Updates:

The Sienna carries into 2003 virtually unchanged. The right-hand power-sliding door is now available on CE models, as are captain's chairs. A complete redesign is due for 2004.

Pros:
  • Camry genes, excellent crash-test ratings, refined powertrain, optional stability control system, available side airbags.
Cons:
  • Dull styling, small size, lacks optimal utility.

  • My first minivan experience - 2003 Toyota Sienna

Well, we finally outgrew our mid-size car and had to purchase a minivan. We chose between a Honda Odyssey and a Toyota Sienna. We really liked the Odysseys magic seat, but realized that with five family members we couldnt afford to "lose" all three seats in the back. The Sienna offered an easy folding 50/50 split third seat which I have already used. Also, the Sienna had skid control as well as traction control - Odyssey only had traction control. Both minivans had great crash test ratings, but the Sienna had better reliability rating by Consumer Reports. My husband dreaded buying a minivan, but has been very pleased with the Sienna.

After Driving a minivan for 5 years, my husband decided to go with an SUV but the price range was so high even with 0% financing. We decided to go with another minivan but Toyota delearship was just across the street from where we were, so we decided to check them out. Wow! I loved the way it drive, smooth and quiet. Even if we had to pay an extra $5000 on the finance charge, we went ahead and bought the minivan because we know that it will be a better investment than what we had before.

today is 2nd anniversary of our 03 sienna. I never imagined to be really competing with my wife to drive this..Just plain good ride. Quiet, smooth ride. Feels powerful, good gas milege. The only problem with it is had a squeaking power stearing gear had to replace power steering pump under warranty. No fatigue on a few trip from St. Paul to Chicago. My 3 yr old prefers this car over my 1999 altima whenver we got out and ask her choice..

  • Sienna=smooth, reliable..Ford-thbbb! - 2003 Toyota Sienna

The 2003 Sienna XLE is a whole new world compared to our previous Windstar - smooth, QUIET, solid, comfortable, literally glides down the road, split rear seat (easier to remove than a solid bench eventhough it doesnt fold away), reliable so far (10,000 mi and not problem 1), EVERYTHING WORKS ALL THE TIME, sunroof, 2 settings of heat in leather seats, great JBL stereo, dash layout is nice, liter bottle holders in doors handy, roof is lower than Windstar so loading bikes on top will be easy. We are picky about cars and Toyota has raised the bar for our expectations - bought a corolla 3 months later and looking at an avalon for next purchase!

  • Happy with the van - 2003 Toyota Sienna

I purchased the 2003 LE Synphony with 0% financing after getting tired of dealing with Honda. I really liked the Odyssey but since there is such a demand for the Odyssey, Honda doesnt budge on price. At 0% the Odyssey lost out. I got a good deal on the Sienna - traded 92 accord. I had lot of buyers remorse for a couple of weeks after giving up my accord. The Van rides higher up and gives a better view of the road. But since you sit higher the vehicle drives different then a sedan. This difference was hard to get use to for me. Now I love the van. I love being higher up and having the extra seating.

  • Less than what I expected - 2003 Toyota Sienna

I was expecting a lot from all the reviews I had read. I have been disappointed in the Sienna. I have not found it to be much better than my older 1996 Grand Caravan.

  • The great Sienna - 2003 Toyota Sienna

This vehichle is a great family car as well as a smooth ride.Great crash test results and look and feel of just a great all around minivan.

  • Check Engine Light problems - 2003 Toyota Sienna
    By -

Overall Im happy with our Siennna. It only has 19,000 miles after 6 years, so it doesnt get a lot of use. Theres an issue with the check engine light. It goes on and we take it to the dealership and they find nothing wrong. I wouldnt care too much, but the engine detects something wrong with the emission control and because of this, the car fails the state emissions test. We take it to the dealership, they run a smoke test and everything is OK. We go back for the emissions test, we fail, but since we had the car smoke tested, we get a pass for the next couple of years. We also had to replace the front tires. For some unknown reason, they wouldnt hold air.

  • Covers the Bases - 2003 Toyota Sienna

We owned a 1999 Dodge Caravan before purchasing the 2003 Toyota Sienna Symphony. The Dodge interior was more comfortable and easier to use, but the Toyota is by far more reliable and much safer. I love Toyota reliability, and their pricing is much more competitive when compared to Honda. The 2004 has fixed most of the faults of this van, but there are a couple that bug me. It is very difficult to get into the third row of seats because the second row does not flip up or move easily to create space. Theres only one car seat latch in the second row, and its attached to the floor of the vehicle. The power door cannot be stopped when its closing. Theres too much body lean in turns.
