Old Friend - 2007 Toyota RAV4
By Sara - December 7 - 2:48 amOriginal owner, 204K miles. Have a V-6, Limited -- which is the same engine they are putting in Highlanders now, I believe. I did have to replace the charcoal canister last year ($1200) but otherwise have only changed oil, tires, and battery. My mechanic thinks it will go another $100K miles. At almost 9 years old now, this car has exceeded every expectation I have for it, and probably will cause everything I own after it to not live up to expectations. I have done everything in this car. My kids have grown up in this car. If I had kids of driving age, I would make them drive this car. Best car purchase I have ever made.

All around one car to have - 2007 Toyota RAV4
By mkedcd - November 26 - 3:13 amThe one vehicle to have for practicality. Lots of interior room, fairly economical, and more refinement than CRV. Performance of the Toyota four puts my old Chrysler six to shame.

Could have been a lot better - 2007 Toyota RAV4
By Kevin123 - November 23 - 6:03 amThe RAV4 has some noteworthy strengths, including the peppiness of the 4-cylinder engine. I like the outside appearance and the look of the tan and black interior is nice. However, the interior build quality is severely inadequate. It doesnt look like the interior is going to hold up very well, especially considering its POOR suspension. If you hit a good sized bump, like a pothole or railroad crossing, prepare to cringe! It feels like the car is falling apart.

07 Rav4 Sport V6 - 2007 Toyota RAV4
By Russ copping - November 13 - 5:13 pmWife and I love the vehicle. To nit pick anyway: V6 offers fierce acceleration. Needing work... tranny has disconcerting habit of being "between gears" when braking to about 15 or 20 and then accelerating... races a bit before engaging proper gear. Pass gear engages too easily. No postings seen on this. May be adjustable by Toyota. Mildew smell from A/C vents at start up but dissipates quickly. Bit noisy at hwy speeds. White paint fairly fragile and nicks rather easily. Driving with one rear window down causes causes a 2 or 3 cycle "bup-bup- bup" pressure oscillation which is no fun on the ears. Dont push anything or front cap will crack. I still love the car and would buy another one.

Almost the perfect vehicle - 2007 Toyota RAV4
By Jeff - October 31 - 12:50 pmCant argue with gobs of V6 power and 27 mpg. Ive driven from FL to CO and back 2 times - no problems pulling 16-20 hours at a time in the saddle. JBL sound w/ subwoofer is awesome. Back seat is cavernous and comfortable. Love the reclining seats. The full size spare allowed me to get off a mountain pass after ruining a tire on a rock hidden in the snow. Try doing that with a donut spare. Downhill assist is a lifesaver on snowy, steep grades. I dont like the lousy 4WD system. Above 25 mph you have 2WD. If you lose traction you are on your own, even though there is a 4WD system that could help you out. I also hate the Sports ridiculous harsh ride. Get the Limited for the softer suspension

after a 2000 mile test drive...well... - 2007 Toyota RAV4
By Dave Stein - October 5 - 9:23 amI took it down to Santa Barbara from Newport, Or. Finally, I started getting the good gas mileage at about 1400 miles, averaging about 70 mph with a stiff headwind. I think this is a great car! Love it, from the power to the JBL stereo, etc.

Was wanting a little more - 2007 Toyota RAV4
By amy - August 29 - 8:10 pmDont get me wrong I love my Rav. I went from a nissan to this and it is a definite step up. The gas mileage isnt as high as the sticker said. There is a need for mud guards or you will have chips on the sides. I wanted a dark interior so had to "settle" for the sport model but really wanted the limited. But TOYOTA is still number 1 in my book. We had an 89 toyota pick up and I loved it. It is still on the road and going strong. My cousin has it now - not a family vehicle after the kids got taller. I bought the extended warranty so I am good for 10 years bumper to bumper and I know the Rav will hold up for those 10 years.

2007 RAV4 Base Model - 2007 Toyota RAV4
By Chuck - August 12 - 4:30 amAlmost everything is as advertised about the base model 4WD 2007 RAV4 except for the front seat comfort and the spare tire cover. The front seat comfort is really horrible. If you value the lumbar area of your back, you will not get the standard seats. Do what you have to do to get better seats. Also, the stock spare tire cover is going to be impossible to get back on correctly. There is not enough room to get your fingers and hand around the sides of the spare tire. Im looking for some kind of replacement cover. The manual says Im supposed to have a cover with a latch, but all I have is a cover that has stretchy material around it.

Disappointed in Rav4 dependability - 2007 Toyota RAV4
By Kerry Ross Boren - June 23 - 7:26 pmI have owned several other Toyotas and I liked them for their dependability. I purchased a 2007 Rav4 for that reason and have been greatly disappointed. The brakes went out at 17,000 miles; an oil hose broke at 23,000; the tires wore out at 20,000 and had to be replaced; the paint job is chipping; the exterior is made of fiberglass and is easily damaged; the power steering column is failing and will have to be replaced at 23,000 miles. What a disappointment. Toyota fails to warranty any of these defects or make a recall for potentially dangerous ones. I have had this vehicle a little more than two years and it has proved to be an expensive liability. I will not purchase another Toyota.
