Overview & Reviews
The 2006 Toyota Prius gets a tire-pressure monitor this year, along with an optional backup camera. Exterior styling is refreshed with new headlights and taillight clusters, while the interior receives darker seat fabric and a textured instrument panel center. Leather seating with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and an audio mini-jack port are newly optional.
- Outstanding mileage, ultralow emissions, generous amount of interior room, hatchback utility, reasonable price, excellent build quality.

Its mostly love! - 2006 Toyota Prius
By meshee - December 3 - 3:03 pmDriving my Prius is great fun. It gets very good gas milage, but no where near the 60 it advertises. My average is 43mpg. Still better than most 4 cyl. With that said, the only other problem I have is the interior display (heat, radio, etc). Its displayed on a cool, TV like screen, but you have to jump to different screens to change each thing. i.e. You want to change your heat to defrost, or change the station on your radio. Theres lots that can be done on the steering wheel, but I find that equally annoying. If given the choice, you definatley want the rear camera (when you put in R a rear view comes up on that screen). But GET ONE, save yourself some money & save our planet!

GOTTA HAVE THIS CAR! - 2006 Toyota Prius
By EarthSavySuprGrl - November 24 - 5:53 amThis car is amazing... for the price you will never find another sedan like this one, plus it saves you so much on gas. They also are giving away substantial tax breaks in some states for owning these cars plus "Clean Pass" priveleges (HOV lane w/o carpool). Also, its sooooo quiet, youll never even know its on half the time. Overall, for the money and the features you cannot beat this car!

2006 Toyota Prius - 2006 Toyota Prius
By desertdragon - November 18 - 7:53 pmA phenomenal engineering feat available to mere mortals - thats the Prius in a nutshell. This is one of the most highly optimized vehicles Ive ever driven - it combines economy, performance, convenience, and passenger comfort almost flawlessly. I just wish it had an EV mode plus an external recharge option - but it is brilliant even without those... highly recommended!!

my little prius - 2006 Toyota Prius
By gerald shook - November 7 - 2:06 amMy only complaint is the touch screen.. when it is cold, it is nearly black when it is bright outside the message is almost wiped out. I made a cardboard shield, painted flat black(inside), taped it to the border, and could then see the message in bright sunlight. You should offer this!! I love this car!!

Good car, but not perfect - 2006 Toyota Prius
By Ross Purdy - October 13 - 2:36 pmCurrently we have 63,000 miles so we have considerable experience. Reliability has been superb. Things to fix: 1. Original tires are awful. Why not give us a good set? 2. Seats lack lumbar support. I had to find some special pads to drive more than 100 miles. 3. Allow the front seat to move farther back. Im only 6 tall and Im crowded into the wheel. 4. Move the shift lever so it doesnt bang my knee. 5. Fix the gas tank so it doesnt belch gas all over my feet. (Ive learned to gas up standing well to the side.) 6. Improve the headlights. The lights on my Toyota pickup are infinitely better. 7. Allow more movement of the adjustable steering wheel. Thats a start.

I love this car - 2006 Toyota Prius
By T Harris - October 6 - 7:26 pmI purchased my 2006 Prius in July and I am so impressed with this vehicle. I have been averaging around 50 miles per gallon, which is less that what EPA estimates, but still unbelievable. It also has nice pickup and plenty of power. I traded in my SUV and have never been happier with a vehicle. I highly recommend this vehicle.

We love it - 2006 Toyota Prius
By Kate - September 15 - 12:36 pmI only have this car for a month now, and I love it. The only problem I have is the rear mirror - wish there was a better way to see out of it. I also get about 45 mpg - do not know how to get it to go higher. That is around town. I got about 51 on a trip last week. Great car-traded in our Hondy Odyssey since the family is now grown, and my husband and I just love the Prius. We keep our cars forever and I believe we will be keeping this Prius. We love it so far.

Most quiet car Ive ever owned - 2006 Toyota Prius
By Love_My_Prius - September 2 - 4:40 pmThe Prius is a well thought out vehicle. Im on my second take in 6 weeks. First two tanks averaged 43.5 MPG. This is low due to the fact that I make very short 1-2 mile trips and its cold in Ohio. Summer should bring the mileage up in the 50s. The car rides very nice and is extremely quiet. It truely is a techie car with the on-board display screen and optional navigation. Im thrilled with my purchase and would recommend the car to anyone!

Awesome car - 2006 Toyota Prius
By junior 8 - August 9 - 5:50 amHad to learn how to drive again. Gas mileage depends on this and it went from 45 to 55 by just learning a new style. Awesome car. The fuel mileage is estimated at 64city/54 highway. I believe you can get 64 if you drive it correctly and live in an area with not too many stoplights. But realistically I would say 54/54, which is awesome. Thanks
