When I first test drove the Prius, it had this noticible drag to it. This was due to the regenerative braking system. I looked at the onboard displays and knew this was the car for me. Right now, thanks to the electric part of the car, I am getting almost 70 mpg. I cant say anything wrong about my car. the milage at the start of the fill is up to 160 without losing fuel. What a car! I like paying for gas, once in a while, not every week.

The touch screen provides excellent feed back on what the vehicle is doing, also the ease with making any necessary changes to climate control, audio etc. are easy and simple to accomplish. The additional command controls on the steering wheel are really handy to eliminate the need to remove your hands from the wheel. The vehicle drives and rides surprisingly well for such a small looking car, however the interior isnt small car at all. When sitting in the vehicle you have the feeling of being in a much larger vehicle and in fact the sq. foot room is spacious. I really like the vehicle and am not disappointed with anything about it. It is a super engineered car with many convenient features.

Have only had my Prius for three months and have already driven 12,000 miles. It handles nicely and the gas mileage runs 51 mpg on the average, but I do very little city driving and some fast interstate driving. Just love it and recommend it as one vehicle in a two car family.

At 54 yrs of age and the owner of many cars this hybrid car is the best car I EVER owned. It is fun to drive, excellent gas mileage plenty of power and I definitely am doing my part for the environment. Over the past few years it has improved on the looks too. It is truly amazing how much power this little car has. The display on the dash shows in detail how the energy/gas consumption is being used. Its almost a year I owned this car with no problems. The only time it was at the dealership was for an oil change. To fill the tank it cost me about $24. It can get 61 mpg on the highway and 53 mpg in the city. When youre at a stop light or in slower traffic that is when the electric motor runs!

  • More than I expected - 2006 Toyota Prius

This is easily the best car Ive ever owned, I love driving it. Its got plenty of room (Im 6 1"), surprising power, and the interior is top notch. Ill never own a conventional drivetrain car again, there arent any sacrifices because of the hybrid system. Plus, it drives like a car that costs thousands more. Power is seamless due to the high tech transmission.

Greatest technology you will find in a car. I love the smart key, Bluetooth, sound system and hybrid technology. I am looking into buying another.

  • Fantastic Car! - 2006 Toyota Prius

All I can say it this is a fantastic car. I would highly recommend to any person. Of course, the biggest benefit is gas conservation (truly averages around 48 mpg). It also has great pick up and go (something you wouldnt expect from a small 4 cylinder car), and is very comfortable to drive - and even the back seat is very roomy.

  • Fantastic Car in todays economy - 2006 Toyota Prius

Ive had this car since 2/08, and its quickly become the car most driven in our family. True MPG of 47-48 mph. Note -- Mileage poor for first 5 minutes of driving, while engine charges battery, and fluids are heated. After that, mileage superlative. For 30 minute work commutes, it is unbeatable. I have gotten over 50 mpg for a tankful before, and never below 46 mpg. Pickup is not great, but is adequate. Comfort level is outstanding; radio sound quality superb; seating very comfortable; easily fits 4 adults. This is an outstanding vehicle.

I purchased my Prius about one month ago and I love the car. I purchased the car for environmental reasons and its living up to my expectations. Mileage is averaging 45-50. Mileage will increase as car breaks in and as temps warm (right now winter in Chicago). Smooth ride. Quiet car. Comfortable seats. Helpful MPG data on a current basis. Nice interior layout with climate and audio controls easily accessed on steering wheel.

My bottom line - Ill trade my Prius on a new Prius when Im ready for a new car. Much improved generation technology; drastic difference from earliest models. Handling and ride improve noticeably with premium tires. Great cornering abilities. Mileage and performance are very sensitive to air filter cleanliness. Excellent mileage at sea level and on flat terrain (VA Beach ~65 MPG/~61MPG along Lake Erie). No more loss of power on mountain drives (Sideling Hill, MD). Great in snow and on ice. Looks are OK, if youre into pregnant roller skates but very few of us buy it for the looks. So far, no repairs just oil and filter changes. I bought a 100,000 extended warranty with the car, not needed.
