  • New to Toyota - 2006 Toyota Prius

This is my first Toyota, and hybrid. It is just fun to drive and try to beat the computer. Everyone I know asks to take it for a test drive. The smart key is great. The only time I take the key out is to get into my home. Living in Florida, You MUST tint the windows. The seats and instruments are nicely grouped and comfortable, Not the car for you if you are a smoker. The steering wheel controls are all convenient and even large passengers say they are comfortable in front or back seats. Great premium sound and extra phone or mp3 jacks. One word to describe this car is COMFORTABLE!

My 06 prius is a joy to drive. I get consistently at least 52 mpg to the amazement of the dealer. At first my husband drove with a little heavier foot -- & averaged only 45 mpg but now we are tied in our challenge of raising the numbers (while still keeping up with traffic).

Purchased a new Prius 06, love it, I am 6ft 5in and 300 lbs fit better then the Accord, Civic, Camry or Corolla. Excellent features, fit and finish, was really surprised on the passing power. I was driving a Chevy 1500 HD with 300 hp engine so was used to power. But this vehicle did just great. Drove it back had to go up the Grapevine in CA, no problem maintained 70MPH. Just love all the technical features, i.e. rear view camera, Bluetooth, navigation system, power info.

  • If Everybody Owned a Prius - 2006 Toyota Prius

If everyone owned a Prius, there would not be long gas lines because they dont need fill-ups very often. Conceivably, there might never be a gas shortage. Based on my experience, each trip will yield 40 to 55 mpg, so you also save money. Driving this car is like riding the wave of the future. It is a quiet, effortless dream. You dont even have to fumble for a key; just push a button! I never before had a car that I absolutely looked forward to running errands in. You can even sharpen your driving skills to increase your mileage performance (like a game). Hint: it takes great concentration. It is my second Prius; had a 2002 (loved it), but moved forward to the new sleeker version.

Great mileage, no defects noted. With gas prices going higher I am smug about driving a car that its on board computer says gets over 53 MPG.

  • We love our twins - 2006 Toyota Prius

We actually own 2 06 Prii, changing over from a minivan and a 4Runner, we are loving the gas mileage. I expected to miss the cargo space but so far have not at all. Even after a wk long vacation. I avg about 45 and DH avg about 50. I tend to take shorter trips. This vehicle has changed the way we both drive having your mpg showing on the MFD makes you very conscious of what you are doing. We continually get asked about our cars and can say nothing bad about them. Oddly there are now 3 or 4 in my color in our area and we seem to have a commrodery even though I have never met these people. Highly recommended this car is great for people in all walks of life, college grad to retired.

  • Traded a 2008 touring for a 2006 base - 2006 Toyota Prius

I drove a 2008 touring prius for 1500 miles and averaged 42 mpg. Then I bought a 2006 base prius and Im averaging over 48 mpg for the first 100 miles. Maybe the weight of the car and the tires makes a difference in the mpg rating. I do think the 2008 has better sound deadening insulation which may make the car heavier. I previously owned a bmw 335, bmw 525, infiniti m35, toyota avalon, subaru legacy, mazda 3, saturn l200, mustang gt, saab 9-3, honda accord, honda passport, nissan truck, and chevy cavalier but the prius is my favorite simply because of the gas mileage, low maintenance cost and quiet ride. Bought the 2006 base with 49k miles certified for $13,500--excellent condition inside/out.

  • the fuel and fun of a prius - 2006 Toyota Prius

We got our prius the first of May. We had to travel over 200 miles to get it. So we decided to make a fishing trip of it also. We were surprised with going up alot of hills we averaged 49.9 miles. We have already put almost 2,000 miles on the car and we are getting 55 around town and highway. So buying this car has been the best ever for us. Oh we dont live in a flat area.
