This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2005 Toyota Prius, a rear wiper is now standard, the sun visor material has been changed from vinyl to fabric, and the Smart Entry and Start system has been renamed the Smart Key System.

Pros:
  • Outstanding mileage, ultralow emissions, generous amount of interior room, hatchback utility, reasonable price, excellent build quality.
Cons:
  • Less power than other midsize sedans, some confusing controls, real-world driving results in lower mileage than the window sticker suggests.

  • Couldnt be more satisfied - 2005 Toyota Prius

Incredibly, the Prius was a replacement for a Mitsubishi Evo 8 that I had grown tired of. I have now owned the Prius for almost three years and I couldnt be more satisfied with it.

Great car that is very well thought out. It seems like Toyota thought about everything. But I am a b it disappointed in the fact that there have been two recalls.

  • Best Decision I made this year! - 2005 Toyota Prius

I love this car for the most part. Getting used to all of the electronic gadgetry is a bit daunting, but its new and innovative and real saver on gasoline. As a commuter, this is a great car that will inevitably save me much in expected gas costs, but it is not a car for hauling mulch or strapping kayaks to for a road trip. The inside cargo space is better than adequate and can likely meet most minor hauling needs. It definitely seats 4 people comfortably, if necessary.

The world looks a lot greener at 50 mpg! Im averaging about 49 through my first 5000 miles. As others have commented, this car changes your driving habits; after watching the Prius information display for a while, you could probably learn to get better mileage from any car. (Most revealing to me is the realization that mileage is always lowest when the engine is cold. Link your trips!) But theres more to the Prius than great mileage. Its stylish, roomy, and comfortable; it performs well; and its lots of fun to drive.

Id love this car even if it didnt have very low emissions and great gas mileage. Its small, yet roomy. Quiet, responsive and attractive. I feel proud to drive it.

2005 Prius got 47 miles to gallon in first 1000 miles. Great ride is better than Lexus IS300. Car handles prefectly at low soeed and excellently at high speed. Can easily accelerate past obnoxious highway traffic. It greet fun although just a half inch away from looking homely.

  • The best car Ive ever had - 2005 Toyota Prius

This car is fun to drive! It gets great mileage, as advertised, around 50 mpg. It looks great. It is extremely comfortable and has a huge amount of leg room in the rear seat. The heater and a/c are terrific. The radio and 6 CD changer are excellent quality. The GPS system and maps are tremendously helpful when in unfamiliar locations.

  • Very efficient, reliable, high operation - 2005 Toyota Prius

Efficient, reliable, good fuel mileage, smooth ride, but lacks power on hilly ride.

I love this car! We own two in our household, and the monthly savings in fuel costs are exceptional. I am averaging between 48-52 mpg depending on my travels. I do a good deal of long-disance driving and find the interior very comfortable with everything I need at my fingertips. And as far as pickup goes, the Prius delivers. I am just as confident merging into traffic in the Prius as I am in my van.

  • Love it and No Looking Back - 2005 Toyota Prius

Moved on from a Subaru Outback and love the 54MPG from 21 with the Subaru. Great style and build, and lots of fun to drive. Much consideration has also been given to safety (side bags, traction control, etc.). Plus, being able to track whats powering the car (battery v. engine), bluetooth capability, navigation and now SIRIUS), its a big geeks dream. A BIG thumbs up!!!
