I was initially impressed with the styling of the 03. Kind of european, not nearly as pedestrian as our 00. We wanted a manual, we ended up with an automatic. The car was driven up over the Sierra Nevada mountain range as part of our test drive. The car handled beautifully on hairpin turns, and had more than enough power to climb the miles long road. The climb was done with overdrive defeated. With O/D off the car never doenshifted, there was plenty of power. The car does not feel underpowered. Fit and finish of the car is very good. There is more room due to the new styling, very welcome indeed. The car is very, very solid.

We bought this car brand new in March of 2004 and have 219,000 miles on the odometer. Other than regular maintenance and a $90 fuse this car has never given us any problems. Originally it was brought for my dad for his commute to work and then my sister used it. Then back down to my older brother for college and now I have it for college and work. I commute 50 miles everyday for school and work and gets me 35 mpg average every time. I would not be scared to take this cross country for my spring break road trips. Very reilable car. I would recommend this car to anyone who needs cheap and reliable transportation.

I want my cars to go 10 years or 100,000 miles at least. No problem here. I get 40 mpg often on highway, 5k oil changes, battery, tires, O2 sensors (warr) and filters are only work Ive done at 60k. Car went to FL from CT got 45 mpg for trip, wasnt too comfy, but was reliable. Winter gas mileage goes down to 35 with heat. Awkward drive seat adjustments. Poor OE radio & speakers. OE tires made it 36k. Michi Pilot A/S are SWEET. Open front end differential makes this car less capable in snow than it should be. This is the household 4th Corolla. There will be a fifth in 2015 or so. (Oh yea! No ABS on "S" model? What is that about?!!!)

The build quality was almost perfect. One thing so far....The trunk has to really use force to latch. Also, there is an exposed wire from the headlinear down the windshield to the rearview mirror to power the reading lights. It looks so "after thought". Other than that the car performs more than I expected in every aspect, it drives good, the night visibility (headlight & instrumenattion) was super, gas mileage is unapproachable by any automatic seden in its class. However, the price really adds up fast when you start adding options like ABS, sideairbag, alloy wheels, upgraded stero. Overall, I am very happy with it.

As far as gas this car is great. As far as space in the drivers seat it sucks . I am 59" 190. and should do okay in it buy it is SNUG and UNCOMFORTABLE.This car is also loud and distracting on uneven and bumpy roads. Its aggravating.

  • Great Reliable car! - 2004 Toyota Corolla

This is an amazing car. I must admit that, in my opinion, is not a good looking car at all, but if you are looking for a good, dependable car, this is it. In 90k miles I only changed the factory battery -after 5 years- the serpentine belt and water pump that was on warranty, so didnt pay for it. Other than that, oil change, filters and one set of brake pads + resurface rotors. Thats it. (Note: The good thing about this car is that it does not have a timing belt, it comes with a chain instead, hence, not needing a costly replacement. It also comes with disc brakes ONLY in the front, hence, maintenance is way cheaper). The ergonomics inside are not the best, but all in all, great car.

Im not so sure now that this car was worth buying. I bought the car used with 10,000 miles on it, and it currently has 22,000 on it. The car has good build quality, but the drivers door rattles and sounds cheap when you shut it. The car doesnt have enough low-end power, and the gas mileage that Toyota advertises is false, Im only averaging about 25- 26mpg in the city. Ive had a humming noise coming from the vehicle, Toyota said they fixed the problem prior to being there 4 times before. The car start making the sound again, and Im just fed up and I dont want to take it back there. The interior is nice, sporty, but it lacks the "driver friendly" atmosphere.
