  The car is extremely practical as well as flexible with its rear seat back fold down reature. Gas mileage is outstanding, 33-40mpg. Handling is excellent, but it has no pretentions to be a sports sedan. Build quality inside and out is as good as it gets. Automatic xmission shifts without and roughness whatsoever.

  My first Corolla was a 1978 with air conditioning and an automatic tranny. That was about it. My girlfriend/wife had a 1983, and replaced it with a 1990. We just bought a 2004, and can only say that Corollas get better and better every year. Even though we couldve gotten a loaded Camry, the Corolla S was more fun to drive, holds its corners, cost 1/3 less and still gets like 40 MPG highway. I was sold!

  My previous car was a 2001 Chevy Blazer that had 24,000 miles upon purchase and had nothing but electrical problems, I traded it in at 36,000 mi, it was junk. In Dec 2003 I bought my 04 Corolla, it now has 70,000 miles and its been very reliable. The only downfall is that Ive had numerous moonroof problems. I have also noticed over the past few months that the alternator belt is starting to squeak, but that is just normal wear and tear to the belt. It will have to have a new belt one of these days, but big deal its only about $15.00 at AutoZone. Most my driving is highway and I notice that its not very well in windy conditions, but slow down and stay in right lane and youll be okay

  Just got this car, and it is has been a very pleasant surprise so far! I only wish that cruise and power windows were standard, but otherwise very good quality for the money.

  Review must be much less than 700 characters so I focus on SAFETY. BIGGEST QUESTION IS SAFETY. We had a head-on crash at ~35mph. Front-end collapsed & totaled. Driver hit the steering column, NONE of the front/side airbags deployed. Seatbelts kept us from hitting the windshield. Airbags in the other vehicle worked. Put a call into Toyotas product safety, left our phone number but they didnt bother to call back – poor customer support. We loved the car until the accident. Now we hope the insurance company would total the car so that we can buy something else instead of driving in a death trap.

  I traded in my 2003 Honda Element for the new 2004 Toyota Corolla S Type. The Element was not fuel efficient at all and didnt handle weather conditions well. Also, there were many blind spots in the vehicle especially when you stow the back seats. The moon roof and back windows were too far back to reach. Everything but the front windows and side mirrors was manual. Corolla had it all including daytimer light switch, passenger seat belt alert,moon roof upfront, awesome stereo system, and the look and feel of a luxury car.

  Not only is this a very PRACTICAL vehicle with great gas mileage.. it is stylishly designed with the interior design having a Mercedes-influence that seats 5 adults comfortably.

  I sold my much-loved 88 Corolla for the 04 LE Model and although I miss the great fuel economy of the 88 (I got 40+ mpg), I LOVE my new car. It looks good inside and out, feels safe and is very comfortable to drive. Im told that mpg will improve after I reach 1000 miles...I sure hope so...

  enjoy smooth ride for size of car has a lot more to offer than comperable cars.
