Toyota has tinkered with the options packages, but otherwise left the Avalon alone. A new luxury package for the XL includes power leather-trimmed seats, 15-inch alloy wheels, remote keyless entry and a JBL audio system. There's also a Sport Luxury package that adds 16-inch alloy wheels and a rear spoiler in addition to the items in the luxury package.
- Lexus-like quality, smooth V6 engine, huge rear seat.

Best Car Ever? - 2002 Toyota Avalon
By dave - October 4 - 5:36 pmI have the bench seat version which I highly recommend if you want even more space. I have over 134,000 miles on this car and have driven it for almost 6 years. No problems. None. Lucky me but I do take incredible care of this car. I love this car, probably why I take such good care of it. Elegant but for the price it was the best out there. So roomy and quiet and I love the styling. I didnt want to pay the Lexus price, you could say it is the poor mans Lexus but you dont cheat yourself. When Toyota redesigned the Avalon they screwed up big. This car is better than the new models for the price you will pay. Smooth to drive. I will keep this car as long as humanly possible.

By June - July 14 - 10:00 amThis is my third Toyota, bought because of the reliability of the prior two. This car is a dream of comfort and luxury. Quiet, smooth, comfortable, beautiful. And of course, that famous and well deserved reputation for reliability. I waited years to get a car like this, and it was worth the wait.

By joyce - June 25 - 10:00 amstopped by dealership on the way to test drive a mazda. the toyota avalon ride was so superior that we went right back and purchased the 2002 avalon xls. the last new car we bought was in 1989. we keep a car forever. my husband says i still have a silly grin on my face when i drive!!!! i dont care for the lower front. i have to be careful when parking while facing a curb so that i dont hit. it isnt always high enough to clear.

By aaammgb - March 31 - 2:00 amThis car is great! I previously had a Volvo 850 Turbo and traded it in for the Avalon. Ive found the Avalon to be far superior in every aspect except acceleration, but that is only because the Volvo had a turbo engine. The avalon is bigger on the inside and the trunk is also bigger, which I didnt think could be possible. Great car for the money!

I really like all of the safety features, between the front and side curtain airbags, the vehicle skid control and the assisted braking, I truly feel safe in this car. I also appreciate the reliability of a Toyota product.

One of the Best - 2002 Toyota Avalon
By yddadgib - December 30 - 10:00 amI have purchased a new car every 2-3 years for the last 20 years. I have owned Honda/Accord EX, Nissan Altima GLE, GMC, Ford, Mercury, and Pontiac. The Toyota Avalon has been, by far, the best buy for the buck. The room and comfort alone would make it an outstanding car. The gas mileage, 22 city- 29 highway, is exceptional for a full size car. And the exceptional mileage does not jeopardize power, when needed.
