Overview & Reviews
Toyota has tinkered with the options packages, but otherwise left the Avalon alone. A new luxury package for the XL includes power leather-trimmed seats, 15-inch alloy wheels, remote keyless entry and a JBL audio system. There's also a Sport Luxury package that adds 16-inch alloy wheels and a rear spoiler in addition to the items in the luxury package.
- Lexus-like quality, smooth V6 engine, huge rear seat.
- High price tag, funky dash design, toothy chrome grille.

A bit more effort and it is a TEN - 2002 Toyota Avalon
By pennwren - October 29 - 2:00 amWonderful car to drive and transport passengers. Door handle quality is poor with pealing chrome. When rear left window is down about 4 inches I get a noise of flapping. I will buy another one but test drive with windows slightly down in back as the noise of flapping is very irritating. The only other problem I have had is the rear bumper paint is very fragile. It scrapes off with minor friction.

Really nice car - 2002 Toyota Avalon
By SamS - September 21 - 10:00 amIf you like comfort, quiet ride and a quiet cabin at highway speeds then you really should consider this car. The car has plenty of power to accelerate quickly, as in turnpike merges and passing situations. The four wheel disk brakes are sure and responsive with no fade noted. Interior and exterior fit and finish are excellent. This car has very chiseled and angular lines in contrast with the rounded lines of the earlier Avalons and competing sedans, however, there are a lot of second generation Avalons on the road. The fact that the Toyota is known for reliability is what sells, in spite of the external style lines.

Avalon, Toyota, 2001 - 2002 Toyota Avalon
By Avalon - September 20 - 2:00 amAn excellent vehicle... smooth, quiet, and powerfull... more room and comfort for front and back passengers than the many SUVs I test drove... roomy trunk... big enough to feel secure, safe, and comfortable, and small enough to still feel somewhat sporty.

Former Mercedes owner - 2002 Toyota Avalon
By CStark - August 17 - 10:00 amThis is argueably the nicest car I have ever owned and I drove a Mercedes for years before this. This is really a Lexus dressed down in a Toyota badge.

By john smithy - August 8 - 2:00 amThe exterior mirrors only tricky item on this vehicle-- too big when coming close to nearby items.

Ugly car but great in overall quality - 2002 Toyota Avalon
By Rube - April 21 - 3:33 amLooked at many other vehicles. I set my mind on purchasing the Acura TL until a family member asked me to drive the new 2000 Avalon. I hated the external design of the car and had my mind set on hating the car until I was given the keys to this vehicle and drove it for an afternoon. Needless to say Im an owner. I selected every option available on the car and do not regret it. GREAT Car!!!

Loved it! Buy one. - 2002 Toyota Avalon
By con - February 24 - 1:50 amGreat car. I just sold one with 140,000 miles on it and I had only only a couple of minor issues. I am 63" and weigh 230. Very comfortable. Test drove the newer model, but I really needed an SUV for work purposes. I love my SUV, but I already miss it.

Best car I have ever had - 2002 Toyota Avalon
By JBS - February 19 - 1:26 pmI drive a lot-about 100 miles a day. This is the best car I have ever had and I have 221,000. I have only replaced tires and brakes. I do change the oil regularly and have replaced the battery once. I love this car and even though I am thinking of getting a new one I will miss this one terribly. The ride is so smooth, it handles extremely well, and I have always felt safe in all kinds of weather.
