This Year's Model Updates:

Subaru completely redesigns the Impreza and brings a high-performance turbocharged WRX variant into the fold to offer enthusiasts the opportunity to drive a powerful, all-wheel-drive sport sedan without breaking the bank. All Imprezas benefit from improvements in performance, refinement and safety. Along with the Impreza's trip upmarket come revised trim levels consisting of two sedans (WRX and 2.5 RS) and three wagons (WRX, Outback Sport and 2.5 TS Sport Wagon). The coupe body style has been dropped.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel drive, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from.
Cons:
  • No more coupe, extroverted styling may be too much for some.

this car is an amazing machine. It is an out of the box rally car. I would recomend this for anyone who has ever wanted "one of those cars they see during a rally race", because this is one. This is sure to please.

  • Buy a WRX - best fun ever - 2002 Subaru Impreza

Fanastic power and handling. Great reliability. Best legal fun available. If you want a sports car with the power, bulid quality and sheer fun you could buy an expensive german car but why bother the WRX matches the M3 in almost every factor for half the price.

Lots of fun, great handling, wonderful braking, plenty of power, wagon versatility, aggressive looks. A classic pocket rocket. Crummy gas mileage, premium gas, occasional turbo lag. Shift not as sweet as Honda/Acura, but AWD beats front-wheel drive every time. Great car for the price, but as soon as Honda makes something similar, Im buying that.

  • Cant beat it for the price - 2002 Subaru Impreza

This car is the same price as a turbo VW bug and comes with AWD, better build quality (IMO), more power, and more room. People who complain about the cup holder are missing the point of the car. Ride may be a bit harsh for some and gas mileage may be a bit low, but you simple cant beat this car for the price if youre an enthusiast looking for a 4 door. A 600 dollar after market down pipe and high flow cat makes a great first mod for more power and better mileage.

  • Awesome Little Wagon - 2002 Subaru Impreza

I purchased this car because I wanted AWD and a decent amount of carrying capacity while still being small enough to parallel park easily. The TS wagon fit the bill perfectly. As a CA native unaccustomed to the unique demands of winter driving in upstate NY, my Subaru has done a fantastic job of hugging the iciest roads. Curiously, my friends SUVs often get irretrievably snowed into their parking spots, but my wagon can always get past the snowiest mounds. Reliability is excellent even on long roadtrips - Ive driven her from NY to CA and back to MA. I have had no expenses beyond regular maintenance in my 7 years of ownership. After this car, I am absolutely sold on Subarus.

This car is so fast and hadles just as good as any supercar out there especially in the rain. This car deserves all the great remarks and hype it gets. I have only had mine for two months and I love it.

  • Too much buck, not enough bang - 2002 Subaru Impreza

Owned mine for a year and it was a piece of crap. It had problems with everything from the suspension (5 times), ECU, exhaust, windows, interior falling apart, fan rattling. Got to a point where I was dealing with the regional representative on every visit. No mods, just a junk build. Major turbo lag and significant lack of low end power. Terrible experience. Some owners get mad when reading this, but I too drooled over the release of the WRX. If the quality isnt there, it just doesnt cut it. Run away from this purchase and shop for something else. Lost tremendous amount on it after only a year.

  • My Fiance Forbid Me To Sell This Car - 2002 Subaru Impreza

Seriously. When I was having money issues and seriously strapped for cash, she wouldnt let me sell it - because she knew how much I LOVE this car! I seriously dont think I ever will, even when I eventually replace it with another car. This little machine is destined for classic status, just like the 60s era Mustangs, Corvettes, and Camaros. There are definite issues with this car (like with any car). The paint is pretty thin and chips too easily, and the interior is nice, but definitely not luxury. Gas mileage is mediocre (although pretty good for a car with this kind of performance). But when you get right down to it, this car is simply a blast to drive.

  • The Danks! - 2002 Subaru Impreza

The car is a joy to drive. The handling is incomparable to anything else in its class, or even on the road (especially for the dollar). When driving it hard, though, the gas mileage isnt much to jump up-and-down about. Other than that, its a great car for the MONEY!
