This Year's Model Updates:

Subaru completely redesigns the Impreza and brings a high-performance turbocharged WRX variant into the fold to offer enthusiasts the opportunity to drive a powerful, all-wheel-drive sport sedan without breaking the bank. All Imprezas benefit from improvements in performance, refinement and safety. Along with the Impreza's trip upmarket come revised trim levels consisting of two sedans (WRX and 2.5 RS) and three wagons (WRX, Outback Sport and 2.5 TS Sport Wagon). The coupe body style has been dropped.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel drive, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from.
Cons:
  • No more coupe, extroverted styling may be too much for some.

Fast! Fun! Turbo! Nothing like the feeling of hitting the turbo going onto a entrance ramp to the interstate. You up to 100mph in no-time.

I owned my outback sport for almost 7 years. I bought it brand new. Initially, I though I couldnt get more car for the money. Power everything, cruise control and the AWD Subaru is famous for. All those things I loved and made the car fun to drive. What I didnt like was the engine noise I started hearing about 2 years into ownership. It wasnt strong our pronounced right off the bat, but grew that way over the years. I was under the assumption that changing my oil religiously would preserve my engine. Even that didnt keep it from the engine problems that are common for this model year. Id be more specific, but I only have 500 characters. I will never buy another Subaru again.

I bought this car new over 2 years ago, for an OK price. So far I have had no mechanical issues, no failures or anything abnormal. The car is great. It has some small quirks, at idle the heater doesnt work really well, the A/C compressor kicking in is a little harsh in traffic. The clutch will shudder when cold and most dealers will fix this under warranty. Fuel economy is less than stellar, there are some rattles that can be fixed, the window may squeak when rolling it down/up and the floor mats refuse to stay in place. The car is a blast to drive, great in all weather conditions and (if you can ignore the small problems) is an excellent car for its

Unbelieveable mix of power and comfort. The ultimate sports car under $25,000 with 0-60 in just under 6 seconds. Fast, fun and with the wagon makes it very practical.

Not many people think "wow" when you just told them you bought a Subaru, but give them a ride, and theyll be grinning so hard, they cant say anything. The car itself carries almost no frills, and doesnt seem worth the price they ask, but one must also realize that the car is built from the front seat forward. Very small trunk, smallish back seating, great front seats, definitely built for the driver. A few squeaks here and there, but thats expected out of any car less than $30K. It really is great fun.

Its nice to have a car that can get out of its own way...and not sound like a frieght train while doing so. Its also nice to cruise at highway speeds and be able to talk to the person next to you with out the use of a megaphone. Corners great, stops on a dime, and smiles like a prom queen the whole time.

multi-purpose and split personality are the two best words that describe this long awaited car from subaru! a low 14 second car at stock trim, and still able to go through 12 inches of snow! this car is compact which makes it very nimble to drive. once you go awd, you wont be going back! this car packs a powerful punch in a stealthy perspective. cops wont be looking out for a wrx. this is a tight car, and very responsive. no clunks or squeaks like the domestics. gas mileage will vary greatly depending on your driving style. i can get 23+ mpg on my weekly commute if i stay off WOT.

I have been driving the vehicle for just over 8 weeks. I traded in a 2000 Trans Am for my WRX. Excellent decision! This car is by far the most fun car Ive ever driven! I find myself catching air on a consistent basis and drifting through highway on and off ramps whether wet or dry. The balance and poise of this car is unbelievable.

  • Excellent All-round vehicle - 2002 Subaru Impreza

Wonderful vehicle which drives like a Civic when needed and drives like a Ferocious Kamikaze when asked to. Split personality ! The Auto-WRX, whose VTD-AWD system is equipped with a torque-sensing Planetary gear and electro-mechanical Hydraulic clutches for rapidly transferring torque front/rear rear/front, and drives with 55% of the power to the rear-wheels in non-slip conditions, is a pure fun car. No other Subaru (Auto or manual) has this exclusive VTD-AWD system.

Perfect car for commuting and even some longer drives. Used mostly in the winter, as I commute via motorcycle in the warmer months. Subie is great in the snow, naturally, though I did add 4 snows to help power through the nasty winter last season. Fresh snow up to 18" didnt stop her; the spoiler would plow the snow into my garage if we had a nasty storm during the day. If you can get past the interior plastics and the poor exterior paint quality when youre driving, and you dont give a hoot what your snooty neighbors think, the WRX is an excellent tool for real driving.
