Overview & Reviews
The 2003 9-3 is an all-new design from top to bottom. It rides on a new platform, has new engines and an interior that's considerably more modern than the previous version.
- Sharp handling, frugal yet powerful engines, generous passenger room, class-leading trunk space, excellent audio systems.
- Some turbo lag at lower speeds, not as vaultlike as some of its European competitors, front-wheel drive also a slight disadvantage.

nervous saab - 2003 Saab 9-3
By ohiosaab - March 10 - 12:20 pmHave owned 3 years now. Still under warranty. Fun to drive. Great mpg. Clock keeps own time. DTE always wrong. Onstar intermittent. Replaced seatbelts (recall), replaced door handles (color changed year 1). Car drives great, but mechanically quality is iffy.

worst car ever! - 2003 Saab 9-3
By c - March 6 - 7:40 amThis car has been to 3 different Saab dealerships 39 times in 2 years! It has had 2 computers, 2 transmissions, a crankshaft even a new engine! The car quickly became very uncomfortable and Saab is the worst manufacturer to admit that they have very poor design and build quality. If someone wants to sell you a Saab or even give you one, run, even a free one would end up costing a fortune! They have had to tow this car and loan or rent us one more often than we have driven ours!

Great Car - 2003 Saab 9-3
By saabenthuse - February 20 - 11:00 pmI had always wanted this car (ever since it hit lots and streets in 2002). I got it as my first car, and Im glad that I wasnt scared off by the bad reviews. There are no doubt problems with the car, but in the end I couldnt deny myself my dream car. Ive seen pictures of the next generation 9-3, and Im not disappointed that I got this one. I recommend either snatching up a current gen. 9-3 while the dealerships are putting them on close-out sale or just opting for the new 9-5 (2006+) which offers a lot of luxury for the money.

Totally New Car - 2003 Saab 9-3
By former ford driver - February 20 - 10:00 amUnlike any Saab Ive ever driven. A true premium entry level luxury sedan. Holds its own and then some compared to the BMW 3s and Audi A4.

Love it!!! - 2003 Saab 9-3
By FRG - February 13 - 2:00 amI have had the car for 3 months now and still love it. Over the last 4 decades I have owned dozens upon dozens of cars and motorcycles and, so far, this is my favorite car. I believe it will remain my favorite as long as it is as reliable/trouble-free as it is "fun to drive."

Value - 2003 Saab 9-3
By HKC_93 - February 13 - 2:00 amThis car fun and jazzy. Its distinctiveness is one of the main draw for me, of course, value counts too, it has all the luxry you want plus more... Get one with sports package, you wont be out of style for a long time.

Saab on the Plains - 2003 Saab 9-3
By Flatlander - February 13 - 2:00 amHave owned my 9-3 Linear for 1 month and LOVE IT!!! The interior is roomy, and elegantly designed...the ride quality is great. Also tested a BMW 3-series and an A4, but for the price, quality and options the 9-3 was easily the best deal! Was initially concerned with GM influence, but rest assured this is a Saab! designed and built in Sweden!

Great Car - High MPG and Performance - 2003 Saab 9-3
By RAQues - January 30 - 11:40 pmThis car has great lines, handling and performance. With the turbo charged four cylinder engine you get both great gas mileage and performance. If you want to accelerate off the line there is a half second delay before the turbo kicks in and snaps you into the back seat. Open the sun roof and take it though the corners and you have to be impressed.

By Juanjo - January 8 - 10:00 amAbsolutley the best sport sedan on the market, far superior than AUDI A4 and BMW 3 series; VOLO S60 doesnt even come close to this car really a jewel
