For the 2007 Pontiac G6, there are substantial under-the-skin changes. The GTP version, which is now offered as a coupe or sedan only, is powerful this year, thanks to a new, all-aluminum 3.6-liter V6 with variable valve timing. The engine produces 252 horsepower and is matched to a new six-speed automatic transmission. The engine in last year's GTP, a 3.9-liter V6, is now an upgrade option for the GT trim. Pontiac has also increased the output for the GT's standard 3.5-liter V6 by 23 hp this year (16 hp for convertible models). Other G6 changes for 2007 include expanded availability of side curtain airbags, hydraulic power steering for GT models (versus the former numb-feeling electric power setup) and a couple of new sport- and luxury-themed packages.

By Kevin - January 5 - 8:03 pmBought new in ‘07 and still own. Engine and drive train on the 2.4 have been great. No problems except for oxygen sensor. That is what most folks complained about when it ran rough. I did the fix myself with aftermarket sensor and zero problems since. This car has been used by all 5 of my sons and now wife’s daily driver. Still drives and handles like new. Except door seals could now be replaced to keep road noise down. 190k miles now and might just last another 190k as long as I keep putting in Prolong or Duralube every other oil change. Still looks great and won’t ever sell it. If you take care of most cars, they will last.

I love my G6 but - 2007 Pontiac G6
By Danielle - November 15 - 6:06 amI have had my G6 for about a 1 1/2 now and it has a little over 25 thousand miles. I am having brake issues. The car feels like I am riding with my brakes on. Its like the car is fighting against the brakes. If I let off the gas the car will come to a complete stop on its own. There has been a couple times that the front end of the car will start shaking really bad when I am going over 60 miles an hour and that is really scary. The dealer ship has shaved my rotors, replaced the brake booster and now they are going to replace the master cylinder. I really hope this solves my problems because I really do like this car. It rides nice, I like the look and the gas mileage is great.

I am not sure about my ride! - 2007 Pontiac G6
By Erica - March 24 - 10:10 amI love my car because its a Pontiac G6 thats red in color and has four doors. All my interior lights light up in red and some of my features are trimmed in chrome. I just recently purchased it with about 30,000 miles on it in may and I have a few minor problems such as my keypad does not work unless it decides and I am hearing a bump noise when I turn, kinda scared of my steering wheel coming off lol). I also begin hearing a whistling noise at one point but that went away. I really hope that I did not purchase the wrong vehicle because I love it so much. But I have only had it roughly three months. Everyone keeps telling me to trade and honestly I am leaning towards that. But I love my car.

Good car, Resale Not Good - 2007 Pontiac G6
By pontiacdude4 - February 27 - 1:25 am2007 with 85,000 with no problems, minor issues. The engine rattles with AC on, steering wheel issues under warranty, radio knobs wear off. But the interior, although plasticky, lasts and the seats covers are durable. Seats are tough, not very comfortable, exterior styling is great, interior pretty good, too. Automatic start is great. Mileage is good, I have the 4 cylinder and get 25 overall (22/29??). For a 4 cylinder its fast. Have XM Sirius which is awesome ($16/mo), I recommend it in any vehicle. Depreciation, though, is off the chart, I am very upside down. Best to buy this car used with 40-60,000 miles for like $7 grand.... Im selling mine, taking a hit, getting nervous bout miles.

By chef357 - February 20 - 10:06 pmHadnt owned a Pontiac since a GTO back in the late 60s. The G-6 is slick! A ton of power, great response, lots of cool electronics and a convertible to boot. Its fun to drive again. Think about the value you get compared to some of the imports in its class. Tough to beat.

Love to Hate Pontiac G6 GT Convertible - 2007 Pontiac G6
By Linda - November 5 - 3:13 pmAlways wanted a convertible, husband pushed me to get hard top retractable for safety reasons. I have really enjoyed the look, the feel, and the convertible. Several draw backs in the build mechanically. Replaced the front rotors twice already, 57,000 miles now replacing the water pump and soon will need to replace the intake manifold. Live in country, roads rough, but not abusive. Had collision with a dear and was amazed at the little damage caused and appreciative of how safe I felt. Cost to fix was very high, front bumper and headlamps, cost 7000. Covered under insurance, however very high. Brake pads seem to go often, every 3-4 months, dont live on big hills like in PA either.

Steering Problem - 2007 Pontiac G6
By Darla - October 21 - 3:30 amI would like to thank everyone that wrote about their G6. I purchased mine in February of this year, used. After a few days, I started to complain about the steering. My car was very had to steer like it did not have power steering and there was a clunking noise. Two dealerships told me nothing was wrong. Finally I went back. I had to have the steering pump and intermediate drive replaced. The dealer wanted to charge me, but I brought up the information that I had learned reading the reviews here and that I had taken my car in when it was under warranty with the same problem. In the end they did warranty the repairs.

Love this Car! - 2007 Pontiac G6
By Karen - August 4 - 7:03 pmWhen its not raining - the top is down on this car. The only complaint I have is the condensation around the A/C vents. It has gotten so bad, it has shorted the hazard flashers. My concern is it will short the great monsoon stereo system. Quick to response & fun to drive. In town gas mileage around 23 mpg.

By seekwolf - August 3 - 10:53 pmI have the sport package with the 3.5 L V6, i bought this car for a decent price @ 29,000 miles. It was a rental car and it hasnt failed me yet. IT has gone on 1200 mile trips getting 30 mpg twice. And it has gone on 800 mile trips twice with no problems what-so-ever. I havent had to do a thing except change the oil every 3-5k. I bought a extended warranty and didnt get to use it. Annoying.

By tess - March 29 - 2:56 amWhat is that squeaking noise? I bought this car because I had a grand am and I loved it. Not sure if g6 can compare to my grand am. Sometimes when Im on the highway, its like, it loses power. Considering trading it in.
