  • NOT SURE.. - 2004 Nissan Sentra

I JUST PURCHASED THE 2004 SENTRA 2.5 S AND AFTER A TRIP TO FLORIDA, I FOUND THE FLAWS. 1.) THE SEATS ARE UNCOMFORTABLE AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS; SERIOUSLY NEED LUMBAR SUPPORT. 2.) THE GAS MILEAGE IS SHAKY. 3.) THE HANDLING SHOULD BE TIGHTER AT HIGHER SPEEDS. 4.) THE STEREO SYSTEM: NEED SPEAKERS THAT CAN ACTUALLY HANDLE THE OUTPUT OF THE DECK. ALTHOUGH HEADS WERE ROCKING TO MY SOUNDS! 5.) FOG LIGHTS SHOULD BE STANDARD ON THE 2.5 S MODELS THAT HAVE THE REAR SPOILER AND SUNROOF, I MEAN, WHY STOP THERE? 6.) OH YEAH, THE TIRES NEED TO BE A TAD BIT WIDER CONSIDERING THE CAR HAS SOME KICK TO IT.

I test drove the vehicle before I purchased it, so I am not totally surprised at some of the less than stellar highlights. However, I am shocked that the gas milage is not measuring up the estimated EPA rating- the interior part are very cheap look, such as the dash storage compartment and the overhead eyeglass storage-I have the upgraded sound system, it great. Its also two inches less interior compartment space than the Honda Civic-that makes it tought for almost anyone to ride in the backseat- the tilt steering column barely tilt at all-and worst of the complaints, the headlights are easily stolen

I was happy with my 89 Nissan therefore bought a 2004. I find it very noisy in city driving. Also a very hard ride in so much as every crack, bump, etc. is felt. I am very disappointed with the mileage I get per gallon. I do not get what is listed. I average 175 miles a full tank which equals 12 gallons. I wish I had researched but didnt have the time.

My experience has been ok. At 60,000 I was having several mechanical problems. I had to bring it in several times before they would bring attention to the real problem.

  • Oil Well Wanted - 2004 Nissan Sentra

This car after dealership replaced catalytic convertor due to an engine code began using oil at an alarming rate-a quart every 6-700 miles. They dont know why and are putting me through hoops doing an "oil consumption test" that will take months to complete the way they want to do it. Meanwhile I have a car I cant trust to take far from home. Very sorry I purchased a Nissan.

  • Badly made, worse service - 2004 Nissan Sentra

Be wary when you read these positive reviews that most of these people have not put many miles on their car. I have enough miles on my car to see it slowly unravel and to experience the lack of support and shadiness from Nissan service. The deterioration of the suspension and ride was astounding. Nissan service refused to fix it under warranty and then tried to swindle me into making other unnecessary repairs. So unless you plan on spending $$ on aftermarket adjustments steer clear of Nissan. FYI: The Sentra/SE-R is assembled in Mexico. Also Nissan is not the company it used to be since it was taken over by the french owned Renault.

  • NISSAN SENTRA 04 RATING - 2004 Nissan Sentra

SO FAR I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 4 MONTHS AND I HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT IN FOR MEACHANICAL PROBLEMS 3 TIMES NOW. I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE FRONT AXEL BECAUSE IT IS CROOKED WARPS THE ROTERS AND BRAKES AFTER 1000 MILES. THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT. FOR ALL THE CARS I HAVE BOUGHT USED AND THEN BUY THIS ONE NEW BECAUSE I DIDNOT WANT ANY MALFUNCTIONS WHILE I AM ABOUT TO HAVE A BABY, BUT I BELEIVE THAT I WILL NEVER BUY A NEW CAR AGAIN! THE FUEL IS NOT THAT GREAT, IT IS BETTER THAN MY TRUCK BUT IT IS NOT AS GOOD AS MOST OTHER 4 CYL.

Purchase new as economical transportation. Owned Nissans in the past with much luck. However this vehicle will make me reconsider purchase of product in the future. Poor reliability - have invested more in repairs on this vehicle than my 93 Nissan pick-up.

  • $20000 problem - 2004 Nissan Sentra
    By -

Runs pretty strong for a 4 cyl. However, this thing has horrible rattle problems, every area of car has rattles. Had dash removed once, temp. fixed worst rattle that clicked nonstop from Pittsburgh to Lexington,KY. Several recalls wasting my time going to dealership. Calling Nissan Monday to try to get out of junk car. Paint smears when waxed like my previous 01 Sentra (yes, I know how to wax a car, only Sentras have done this to me and I use best polishes.) Cracked brake pad make horrible barking noise after only 7000 miles. Could go on for days.

Not a bad car overall, I suppose. Live in AZ and got this car at around 55k miles.I was very smart to get the extended warranty on this car from the start. In the 12k miles I have driven it in less than 2 years, it has needed a new strut, 2 new fuel injectors, 2 batteries (I blame the state, not car), lower control arm, power window motor and both the engine and tranny mounts. The inside is also falling apart; the top light console clip broke and I was forced to glue it so it can never be removed. The light glass broke on the inside and rattles like crazy and the trunk clasp wont release half the time. I only paid around $150 for the repairs with my warranty thankfully but it concerns me
