This Year's Model Updates:

The 2002 Nissan Pathfinder receives only minor refinements. These include a new front grille, steering wheel and a revised audio system with new faceplate and faster functioning in-dash six-disc CD changer. The SE trim, now the base Pathfinder since the XE has been dropped, features a new titanium-accented step rail and roof rack with integrated air dam, body-color bumpers and fender flares, new 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and new seat cloth. Not to be outdone, the luxurious LE has 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels as standard equipment this year.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6 engine, car-like interior, solid reliability record, rear entertainment system option, available Infiniti All-Mode 4WD on LE models.
Cons:
  • Tight rear accommodations, high price tag, hard-to-fold rear seats.

  • Natedog loves his Pathfinder - 2002 Nissan Pathfinder

My first new automobile, and I went with the Pathfinder. I fell in love with it the first time I test drove it. I love everything on it, the interior, the conservative yet classy styling, and most of all the realiability. My dislikes are the pricetag for the LE wich I got, and the brakes seem a little jumpy. I looked at a lot of SUVs, but like I said this one by far was the best. It seemed like the Nissan dealer wouldnt go down much on price as would the Chevy dealer or Ford dealer, I guess the car sells itself.

  • Towing with a Manual Clutch - 2002 Nissan Pathfinder

I bought a new Pathfinder SE 4WD with stick this year. Next I bought a horse. With 240hp, I knew I had plenty of power to tow a double horse trailer with two horses. Not true. Did you know that the manual transmission is rated at 3500 lbs. towing capacity while the auto is rated at 5000 lbs. ? Go figure ! What can I do ?

Its truly no comparison. The build quality is perfect. 100% reliable. Bought the truck used (05) and havent had any problems ever. Very powerful engine and very smooth on the road. Its like driving a luxury vehicle. Go test drive one to believe.

  • BEST CHOICE! - 2002 Nissan Pathfinder

WE BOUGHT OUR PF USED AFTER COMPARING TO HONDA, INFINITY, & TOYOTA. RIDE BETTER IN NISSAN. COULDNT JUSTIFY PAYING CLOSE TO 30K FOR A USED VEHICLE. TRIED TO BUY GM BUT COULDNT COMPARE AND WE KNEW SOMEONE WHO HAD TWO PATHFINDERS IN THE PAST WITHOUT ONE TRIP FOR A REPAIR. THE RIDE IS NICE AND COMFORTABLE (WE ARE ALL UNDER 59"). LOVED OPTIONS ON THE LE. PUT TOGETHER BETTER THAN GM - WE HAVE OWNED SEVERAL WITH LOTS OF REPAIRS AND SMALL THINGS GOING WRONG WITH AFTER 2 TO 3 YEARS. THIS VEHICLE IS SO SOLID! SEARCHED HARD TO FIND A USED LE - MUST SAY SOMETHING!

paid $500 under invoice plus $1000 cash back. Dealer was excelent to deal with, had to do the usual haggle with my trade-in.Got alot of xtras with my deal. Dealer was part of Auto Nation and I was able to see the whole deal before I was presented papers. No hidden costs or fees.Five star rating to Brown & Brown in Tempe Arizona!! Been back a few times since and all I can say was its been along time since anyone held a door open for me at a car dealership!

  • Best SUV - 2002 Nissan Pathfinder
    By -

This is the best SUV for the money. I had a number of GM SUVs and the Nissan quality is superior. Great power, quiet, and stylish. Only real drawback is the gas mileage. The resale value is also outstanding compared to any American SUV. For a few thousand more, get the LE - the added features are well worth it. Im sold on Nissans.
