This Year's Model Updates:

SE models now include a manual-shift mode for the CVT, and satellite radio pre-wiring is standard on all models. The standard driver seat now features 10-way power adjustment.

Pros:
  • Excellent handling, comfortable and practical interior, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat, gets pricey with options.

Looking for SUV with comfort and convenience, and found it. Overall the best buy for the money. Explorer, Trailblazer, and Jeep doesnt compare to the smooth ride of the murano. About 20 miles per gallon also helps.

Spent 4 months researching SUVs. Read customer complaints from major car related web-sites. Kept coming back to the Murano. Best choice I could have made. Since my favorite cars had been my 280Z,kept 10 yrs; Infiniti J30,kept 9 yrs,I wasnt sure if I would be giving up too much of the fun by purchasing an SUV. Wrong. The car flys and stays on the ground. Not one regret. Put the car to an early test during a recent snow/ice storm. Maneuvered up a winding mountain road without the slightest problem. The AWD paid for itself right there. Have been getting 22 to 23 hwy mpg and 18-19 city.

  • Perfect, if you never have a flat tire - 2004 Nissan Murano

Nissan Murano has a different sized wheel well. At this time, most tire shops do not carry this size of tire. In addition, there are no studded snow tires available and the tire chains are special order. And there isnt a full size spare.

Riding the open road going to Vegas. When you first buy a car thats the way to make the vehicle stand up for its name. That is exactly what my family and I did! You forget about the stress and discomfort of the agonizing and ferocious pavement. This vehicle glides, unbelievable reaction and response on the uneven highways. "Fun- tastic!"

After religious oil changes, my beloved Murano has begun to burn oil, 7qts per 3000 miles. Needs new engine, it seems. Very disappointed in the longevity of this car. Would not buy another.

  • Great Car!!! - 2004 Nissan Murano

I Love my Murano! Lovely to look at and great to drive. There is a lot of commentary regarding the CVT, but I like it. I get plenty of power for merging and passing, so I dont understand the nay sayers. The vehicle is wonderfully appointed and very luxurious. I have all the options except 4 wheel drive. (This city girl will never need it!) Perhaps if I were to change anything, I might put in a 3rd seat, but then it would be a minivan! I have plenty of room for groceries etc. No complaints from me! I just love this car!

This is a great suv and I really dont have anything bad to say about it. Its very sporty so it may not be for everyone, but its a heck of alot of fun to drive and its very roomy inside. Unlike what Edmunds says, the CVT transmission does not detract from any performance. I wonder if they really tested this model. I personally compared the performance to other Nissan cars with the 3.5 (Alitma & Maxima) and found that considering the weight difference it was about the same, but the CVT was alot smoother.
