This Year's Model Updates:

SE models now include a manual-shift mode for the CVT, and satellite radio pre-wiring is standard on all models. The standard driver seat now features 10-way power adjustment.

Pros:
  • Excellent handling, comfortable and practical interior, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
Cons:
  • Continuously variable transmission detracts from performance, SE model rides harshly, no third-row seat, gets pricey with options.

  • Two Question on my Murano SL FWD - 2004 Nissan Murano
    By -

Too many positve evaluations. However, I noticed that: (1) I have never got the 25MPG fuel economy on highway with a speed of 70MPH, only about 22MPG. (2) When I try to accelerate the car (not very sudden) at low speed (<20MPH) I find that the engines revolution has a slight shift down (i.e. from 1800rpm to 1500rpm), and then stay at that revolution with an increasing speed; on the contrary, when I try to slow down the car, at the speed of 15MPH I find that the revolution has another shift up (i.e. from 1100rpm to 1500rpm), and then goes back to 1100rpm with a decreasing speed. Anybody noticed same phenomenas? Comments are welcome to lishu998@hotmail.com.

  • So far, so good - 2004 Nissan Murano

None of the SUVs in the market appealed to me but living in NE I needed something reliable for the winter. Murano offered the AWD plus the nice luxury like look. Took 2 long trips and was very confortable. Fun to drive, however, watch out for the blind spots! The paint seems to be very delicate (already showing some chips and I am not a commuter!)

  • Love it - 2004 Nissan Murano

This is the most fun drive since my old Honda Prelude in 80. Quality of build is top notch, it does everything I ask even recreating the Cabot Trail Advertisement this year! Did fine off road on mountain trails, smooth ride, plenty of power. Center console is a bit awkward and the engineers should have included Mph/Kph conversion on the English/Metric Converter! Dont understand why no running lights on US models, just a cheap relay. Huge room in the back seat, enormous leg room in the front. This SUV is awesome, like driving a luxury car that goes like heck and pushes through snow like its nothing. Safe and steady and Fast, wish heated cloth seats were available. Id buy it again.

  • Just like its namesake - 2004 Nissan Murano

Its a reflection of beauty just like its namesake. The Nissan Murano is a wonderful sculpture turned into a reality, with enough features to keep someone looking for an ample SUV happy (and then some). Ive had this car since April 2003, and at 15,000 miles, Ive had no problems with it. The comfort and interior design is outstanding, has good room for storage in the back, smooth ride, and just an incredible piece of machinery to own. Like many here agree, its the one of the best cars that one can purchase for him/herself. Outstanding work, Nissan. Bravo.

This is a great all- weather, long distance , comfortable car. Over the years weve owned a lot of cars, theyve all had their strong points and weak points; the Murano seems to combine all the good attributes in one package while minimizing the negative issues. This is the only car my wife has ever fallen in love with.

  • I Sold It After 3 Months! - 2004 Nissan Murano

Purchasing a Murano was not one of my better ideas! The estimated city fuel economy rating in the sales brochure proved to be a figment of Nissans imagination. I got 2/3 of the estimated fuel economy per tank. When I took it in for its first check up, the dealer fixed none of the 3 items I identified. They had "never" heard of its repeated tendency to lock & unlock its doors all by itself, even though this is listed in the Lemon Aid book as a common problem. Driving this vehicle was like driving a luxury "boat", very comfy and quite but nowhere in the realm of fun! It has been replaced by a Mazda 6 Sports Wagon!

  • Turbine-like performance - 2004 Nissan Murano

This is, by far, the smoothest, most powerful vehicle that I have ever owned. This is the first non-BMW or Mercedes that I have owned and it has far exceeded my expectations. I like almost everything about it, and so do my envious friends whom I let drive it on occaision. Drive it = buy it.

  • what a treat to drive ! - 2004 Nissan Murano

I was a little nervous about stability and rollover as this is my first suv; with those 18" wheels and wide track, this vehicle corners better than my old vw passat
