Overview & Reviews
Not satisfied with the current crop of crossover SUVs? Nissan rolls out the newest car-based SUV, the Murano. It boasts a powerful V6 engine and distinctive styling.
- Very good use of interior space, unique styling inside and out, smooth and powerful engine.
- No third-row seating, SE model rides harshly, gets pricey with options.

2003 Nissan Murano - 2003 Nissan Murano
By deenah - October 20 - 11:13 amI have a 2003 that had 20k when I got it in 2007. The entire fuel system failed in my car at 40k in Oct. 2008. I liked the car for some of the + points, but this car has just become worse over time. The driver side visor broke and Nissan wants $350 to fix it, but their own parts employee said that they see this problem all the time/everyday! The car has just under 50k on it, and I think that a problem with the transmission is starting because it loses power from the get go when at a stop. I dont know why Nissan was so shoddy making this car b/c it was suppose to be a unique, sleek SUV.

2003 Murano SE HOT!!! - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Bl@ckDr@gon - October 12 - 10:00 amI picked up my 2003 Murano on 7/3/2003 and put close to 1000 miles on it over the July 4th Weekend This is my first truck and Im totally impressed with it. Ive driven the Ford Explorer & Toyota 4Runner the ride of the Murano is in a class by itself. The CVT transmisson always seems to be in the correct (range/gear) While cursing on the highway at 65mph the RPMs were just below 2K on level ground. The handling while not 100% car like due to the height is excellent. Even highway driving with 5 passengers and luggage in the rear the truck moved effortlessly. The 245 HP powerplant always has power to spare for passing and climbing hills.

Best buy ever - 2003 Nissan Murano
By LuvMyMurano - July 20 - 2:10 amI was initially lured by the Muranos design, then fell in love with how it drove. I bought it new in January 2004 and have never regretted it. 170,000 miles later I am still impressed with its reliability and build. I have only paid for routine maintenance, and continue to enjoy consistent performance. No issues with things falling apart or breaking. Friends comment that it is still "like new". Either I got lucky with a perfect car, or the Murano is just close to perfect.

StillLuvMyPath - 2003 Nissan Murano
By nissanlover - April 30 - 2:00 amHad a 2001 Pathfinder for three years. Perfect SUV...no problem at all. Changed to Murano because it was the new car in the block. Drives really well until we hit a pothole! Big or small holes, you can feel the bumps and hear the thumps! Especially in New York City. Nissan should either make the car a little higher with plusher seats and better suspension to soak up the bumps.

Kinda Worried - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Kinda Worried - January 29 - 10:00 amI purchased this vehicle less than a month ago and it has been in the shop for the last 5 days. It wouldnt start, and I had to get it towed back to the dealership. Due to it being a new model, the mechanics had to play phone tag with the Nissan engineers to try to figure out what was wrong with it. I was told it was something to do with the fuel injector system, which has about 5 different components. Once they fixed the fuel pressure problem, now the electrical system is tripping up the fuel system. Supposedly fixed now, but I am still kinda worried. Wondering if anyone else is having this same problem.

Will definitely buy another - 2003 Nissan Murano
By Jeff - January 9 - 1:43 pmThis is the second Nissan Ive owned. I bought it with 16k miles about four years ago, and it just turned over 92k. I drove it back and forth from NY to VA several times, and it was very comfortable and got decent mileage. No major problems whatsoever. I step on the gas and response is immediate. Great speed-to-speed acceleration, too. The interior could be better, but Im 63" and feel very comfortable inside. I wish it had an auxiliary hookup for audio devices, and the CVT has kind of a dynaflow effect every now and then; a 5-speed automatic or 4-speed with O/D would be better suited for the car. Once I refinance the mortgage, Im getting a fully loaded 09 Murano LE AWD.
