This Year's Model Updates:

Improved manual transmission shift feel (thanks to a shorter shift stroke), black-tone brake calipers, additional chrome accents inside and new softer leather upholstery. Auto-dimming outside mirrors are now available, and a new 12-volt power point resides at the base of the center stack.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
Cons:
  • So-so center stack ergonomics, premium price without the premium nameplate.

I love my Maxima. It is the perfect size for my family and me. My only disappointment is that it will not charge my cell phone when the car is not running. This is a huge inconvenience for me and may have prevented me from purchasing this particular model had I realized this, as I only use my phone in my car. I think it is a beautiful color and it rides very smoothly. I get many compliments on it wherever I go. It is much roomier in the rear seat than it appears and it also it very easy on gas which is a great switch for me. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase.

This car gives me no reason to ever buy another car, at least for years to come. I added the Nismo cold air intake accessory to the vehicle and love the extra sound at 5500 rpm with a mild extra boost. The acceleration is prime and the style rivels the exotics in my opinion. I have always been an accord fan, but this car takes the blue ribbon. I would not want another car or could not think of another car to buy that compares to this. Im not sure what consumer reports tested or JD Power for that matter. When Motortrend has got 5 Hyundais in the motortrend finalists, it makes me wonder if Hyundai owns shares in Motortrend. This car is the real deal and you wont be dissatisfied.

I recently traded in my 2003 Altima for a 2005 Maxima. Im very pleased with almost every feature of this fine- tuned machine. The Handling, acceleration, and suspension are all superb. Its a beautiful vehicle, thats really in its own class. The higher up Accords and Camrys cant compete with its style and performance and the BMW 3 series and Acura TLs cant compete with its price. After having this car for almost a week now, Im positive I made the right decision.

The car has little more than a year with over 19,000 miles on it and it has already been in the dealer 7 times. 3 of those times was because of a short circuit that burns the interior and taillight fuse. The other four because of the struts. Service is horrible and they have not found the problem of the short circuit. The car moves well but the turning radius is really bad. Thinking of dumping the car and look for a more reliable car like the new 2007 Toyota Camry.

I actually paid cash for a brand new 2002 Mercedes CLK 320. That was a very big mistake. I never liked the car and felt that I wasted all that money!! I finally got rid of the M.B. and purchashed a 2004 Maxima and absolutly love it !! I find it so comfortable and easy to handle. Ive heard people complain about the wide turning, but I dont find that any big deal. I love the look of my car reliability too! If I were to change anything, I would make the instrument panel easier to read. I find myself squinting to read the print. I think my husbands next SUV might be a Nissan too !!!

I had a 2002 SE Max - sold it after 20K miles back in summer 2004. Bought my current Max in 7/05. It is a blast! Great Combination of performance, sedan, room, looks, features, price, uniqueness. No regrets here whatsoever. I cannot believe how easy it is to approach 100 mph.

Overall, a very good car. Smooth and quiet motor, handling excellent, fun to drive. Several minor issues start to add up, though. The light grey interior and titanium trim really reflect off the steep windshield, impairing visibility. The lumbar support is too high, and the seat is hard to get comfortable in. The $1,000 option Bose radio is not as good as the stock radio on my previous 97 Maxima. It has a "tuned EQ" for the car that cant be changed, but just sounds boomy. There is a lot of very noticable torque steer. Also, Im not convinced there is any advantage to a 6 speed manual transmission over a 5 speed. You spend a lot of time shifting.

I have owned numerous cars in the past from luxury to high performance. This car is the best car I have EVER owned. I have never, not once, had any mechanical failure or difficulty in regards to the engine. The only problems that I had were initially, when I bought the car, the right rear window mechanism broke 2 times in 2 weeks. It was replaced both times.
