This Year's Model Updates:

Improved manual transmission shift feel (thanks to a shorter shift stroke), black-tone brake calipers, additional chrome accents inside and new softer leather upholstery. Auto-dimming outside mirrors are now available, and a new 12-volt power point resides at the base of the center stack.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
Cons:
  • So-so center stack ergonomics, premium price without the premium nameplate.

MY NISSAN MAXIMA 3.5SL NAVIGATES VERY SMOOTHLY. IT IS COMFORTABLE FOR MY 103 LBS GRANDDAUGHTER AS WELL AS MY 6 5" NEPHEW. I ALWAYS HEARD THAT MAXIMAS ARE EXCELLENT CARS BUT I AM GLAD THAT I FINALLY BOUGHT ONE.

This is a terrific car. I look forward to getting behind the wheel! I bought the SL for the smooth ride, leather, opening moon roof and Bose stereo. The V-6 power is immense. I cant complain about a thing, this was a good purchase. It has a huge trunk and a lot of passenger space. It is more attractive than the Toyota Avalon. I am very happy with all of its features and at 106 degrees so far this summer, the air conditioning is perfect in Phoenix. I highly recommend the Maxima 3.5SL. I recommend the "Valentine One" radar detector if you plan on enjoying this cars power. I am going driving!

It is sad to see all the issues some are having with their Maximas. Ours has been problem free and we hope this continues. If the new one wasnt so expensive we would look at upgrading. Great car, and a great value.

I actually bought my car in may of 2003, I have 44,000 mile on it. I love the way it drives, the handling is great and also the pick-up, you definitely have to watch your speed! I have had one little problem with my power sunroof, the dealer fixed with no big deal. No just last week my cd player quit working, I have an appointment next week, the dealer told me a new one cost $600.00, although they do not know yet if I will need a new one. Needless to say that up set me with me car only being 2 years old, I did by the extended warrenty but guess what, not covered. At any rate I would recommend this car. I love it!

  • Nice car that needs some improvements - 2005 Nissan Maxima

Sporty sedan with much nicer body design than Accord, Camry or Avalon. 265HP is more than average driver needs. Unfortunately you better keep both hands on the wheel when flooring the gas pedal - terrible torque steer. So used to my V8 T-Bird with RWD I almost crashed the car when accelerating while turning. Acura TL which I also considered for additional $1,500 didn’t have that problem and it had a lot nicer interior design. Too bad TL’s interior is even smaller than Altima’s. Front seats could be more comfortable (no upper back support). Driving 50% city – 50% hwy I only get 20mph not between 20 and 28 as stated on sticker. It costs me $50 to fill up the tank (recomended premium fuel :(

My Nissan Maxima is a fantastic vehicle. Its very powerful at all speeds, extremely comfortable, very quiet, looks great, very fuel efficient, gets 27 mpg city, 46 mpg highway, has great seating and trunk space. Great dealer service. I cant imagine a finer vehicle for even double the dollars. I highly recommend the Nissan Maxima.

  • IM OVER IT!!! - 2005 Nissan Maxima

I bought this car used with bout 60,000 miles on it. Ive had for about 3 years and im now at 124,000 miles. I loved this car at first, but now, i dont even like driving the car because of the AWFUL transmission! Its so bad! I will NOT replace the transmission! I have been driving with it jerking and hesitating for about 5 months and i am trading it in this weekend! I have been looking at the 2008-2010 Honda Accords and that is probably what i am gonna end up getting. This car is just a head ache now! I have had two previous maximas and they were GREAT! I wish i never would have gotten ride of my 2003 maxima.

  • Good Car but requires maintenance - 2005 Nissan Maxima

I bought my Maxima brand new. I now have 89,000 miles. I have been very happy with this car but maintenance items are very expensive. Other than regularly scheduled maintenance, the struts and A/C has been replaced. The sunroof sometimes will not close. The car is very fast but the turning radius for this car is VERY wide.

This will make our 5th Max. We traded in a 97 bought new and there is no comparison. I thought the 97 was nice. WOW!!!!. The 05 is roomier, more power, excellant craftmanship and a real head turner. It is smokie gray color with light gray interior and when its in the sun it takes on a completely different color. Hats off to Nissan for this one. Look out Lexus, BMW, Acura and Volvo. Nissan has hit the market with a true winner. Would recommend this car to anyone who wants to buy one. Just take a test drive, it sells itself.
