Overview & Reviews
The Maxima has been fully redesigned for 2004. It now rides on the same underpinnings as the well-received Nissan Altima. This year's Maxima is longer, wider and more powerful than the previous version.
- Roomy interior, lots of upscale options, sweet V6, available with a manual transmission.
- Some small, oddly arranged controls.

Sports Car - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By saini - May 4 - 10:00 amVery excellent driving, like a Cheetah. I have the Elite model with navigation system. It has telescopic handle, Auto folding mirrors, all seats heated, beautiful interior and spacious. Many other features not seen in many luxury cars. Worth the money.

My new max - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By billdo - April 29 - 10:00 amHave had my new max for about 90 days and i have to report that it is one of the most fun cars i have owned to date...however, little electrical glitches keep arising, cruise control kicks off(twice), sunroof malfunction (twice),and the latest is the auto headlights have been malfunctioning (twice). Have taken it to dealership about glitches, and you guessed it...nothing happens. I would hate for this to be the first car that i have to make them buy back, i hope these little things will dissappear because this car is sooooo sweet!

my new Maxima - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By connie winstead - April 29 - 10:00 amIve HAD THIS CAR A LITTLE OVER ONE WEEK aND SO FAR SO GOOD. THE GAS MILEAGE IS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTING SO FAR, IM HOPING IT WILL IMPORVE. RIGHT NOW ONLY 15MPG, mostly CITY DRIVING. The power, handling, and style is what I like best . Reliability is very important to me so only time will tell. Ive driven Honda Accords for over 20 years but the new Accord didnt offer the stylishness of the Maxima.

MAXDOUT - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Jon - April 18 - 3:46 amMy 2004 Maxima now has 60,000 miles. This Maxima had alot of issues. Build quality should have been much much better. Performance holds this car together. But I would NOT buy this car used & I love Maximas.

Best car Ive had! - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Lori schneider schneidee - March 22 - 3:19 amIm getting another one. Its been perfect for me! Only your normal wear and tear repairs with over 140,000 miles. Great power and comfort ability. Best option by far is the heated steering wheel up here in the cold northern mornings.

Best car ive owned so far - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Pukestorm82 - March 20 - 2:23 amI purchased my car exactly 1 year ago with 72k miles, now it has 90k and have had no problems at all besides general maintenance. After reading all the bad reviews about transmission problems I bought a 3 year extended warranty and have yet to use it.

Not the Altima, at all!!! - 2004 Nissan Maxima
By Chad in Atl - March 11 - 10:00 amIts funny to read reviews about "the Maxima is just an expensive Altima." These reviews are obviously done by those comparing based on the specs on the internet. I drove both today and there is a world of difference. The Altima is much like my 99 Maxima (just traded) with a little engine and amenities improvement. The Maxima is a stellar "near-luxury" vehicle that will compare more to BMW, Audi (6s), Lexus, etc. Much more attention to detail was paid to the Maxima on interior and exterior styling. It is truly shocking how much better this car is from any car I have ever owned. The power is phenominal! More than the 5.0 of my youth. (cont. below)
