This Year's Model Updates:

The M-Class' navigation system enters the 21st century by ditching the old CD-ROM-based design for a much more efficient DVD-based setup. This is the lone change as the MLs received numerous updates last year.

Pros:
  • Safe, comfortable, brisk performance, surefooted in bad weather.
Cons:
  • On-road handling eclipsed by newer crossover SUVs, gets pricey fast if buyer gets tempted by too many options.

I love this car...but Mercedes doesnt back their product like they would have you believe. First, the steering column was replaced (reluctantly, by MB); then after putting me off repeatedly while "trying this and that" (until the warranty ran out) about a gear noise in the front left wheel, they replaced the transfer case. MB ended up charging me for half of this repair, despite the fact that they said theyd take care of it. I still love the car, but this dealership has cured me of ever wanting another one. New battery and alternator cost me $1000~!

Be ready for heads turning and lot of your friends want to test drive your car! with the package I got makes the car stands out with the other competitor. I have the inspiration package that adds a lot of sportiness inside, with the engine and transmission upgrade I never had problem in trying to go around on the freeway. Very easy to maneuver even in the most zigzag road. The most important is the peace of mind about the safety of the vehicle 10 airbags with 24 tele assistance which comes with 1 year from the manufacturer. Overall happy with my decision of getting rid of my old suv and bought this car. Makes me enjoy driving again!

  • Only MB not built in Germany! - 2003 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

Ive had my ML320 for 6 months and its been at the shop for 4 times. The problems were 1. Gear shift Stuck, 2. Back seat could not unfolded. 3. Low range malfunction. 4. strange siren sound from under the foot well (MB dealer could not find the cause). I just got a letter from MB that there is a recall so I need to take my car in for the fifth time. The service advisor at the dealer told me shes seen a lot of ML320s with poor quality and said it might be because they are built in Alabama instead of Germany to cut cost. One of my friend bought a Acura MDX at around the same time and used to envy my MB, but now I regret that I bought my ML320.

The ML320 is one of the safest SUVs in the market. It feels like you are in a M1 tank. Although, the gas mileage is average in its class it has excellent acceleration. It also has excellent off road abilities, thanks due to the "low range". I looked at purchasing BMW X5 but found this Mercedes M calss offered more vaule for the money.

Great car to drive with lots of class. Nice feel and look when you get the Inspriation Edition. Sports seats, chrome grills and instruments, trip computer, etc. Great package. The AMG seats are great with added lumbar support and full bosters. Only problem so far has been a factory recall for power steering hose clamps. $3000 dealer rebates on 2003 models.

  • MAINTENANCE NIGHTMARE - 2003 Mercedes-Benz M-Class

First, mine ia a 2001 model. We have had electrical problems, cooling problems, power steering problems, air bag problems, and the car is now at the dealer to have the fuel pump replaced. All in only 18 months! We live in the mountains and the 4 wheel drive system is the worst I have ever used. The worst indictment of all is that MERCEDES does not seem to care.
