This Year's Model Updates:

The base E320 is replaced with the E350 for 2006. The new model name indicates a new engine -- a 3.5-liter V6 with 268 hp, a 20-percent increase from the previous E320.

Pros:
  • Sleek and dignified design inside and out, pleasing blend of ride and handling, sophisticated safety features, all-wheel drive available on both sedan and wagon models.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, confusing control layout, electronically controlled brakes lack progressive feel.

  • Worth the wait - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

There is an obvious increase in power. The seven- speed transmission is silky smooth. The engine/ transmission can amazingly propel the car from a standstill in jet-like fasion. When accellerating, the car keeps moving forward without any hint of giving up, similar to taking off in a DC-10 or 727, the car shifts to where it never lets go of the forward momentum. Sometimes I could swear that the E350 is a V8, but when I seldom go to the gas station, Im glad its a V6. Theres nothing extra special on the car that the E320 didnt have, beyond the addition of dynamic seats to the premium package. After looking at the Lexus GS, Jag S-type, & Audi A6, I have 0 second thoughts.

  • E320 vs E350 - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

I traded my 2000 E320 i for a 2004 E320 about 14 months ago. Loved all the new styling, etc. About 3 weeks ago I was rear ended at about 60 MPH. Walked away with just minor injuries. Picked up my new E350 last week and WOW! The new engine and 7 speed transmision completly changed the character of the car. Now you get all the comfort and safety along with a engine that does the rest of the car justice. Who would think 51HP would make such a difference and the extra lower 1st gear makes it snap right off the line. If you are a E-Class junkie like me or thinking of a new luxury sedan, you owe it to yourself to look the the E-350!!!

  • AMG E-55 Hold on tight - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This is my 3rd AMG E-55. This has the most powerful engine 469 HP, 575 torque. Love the dynamic seats. They inflate to keep you centered when youre making sharp turns. This baby accelerates 0-60 in 4.5 sec. Jump on the freeway and leave em in the dust. This kind of performance and handling from a 4 door sedan (Stealth) most people dont have a clue what this car is capable of. Keep it under wraps so the showboats dont ruin it :) It is quick, powerful and agile with luxury comforts and gadgets.

This car drives like it is on air. Ride is very smooth and extremely quiet. Handles beautifully. Great safety features. Accelerates quickly and steadily.

  • An Excellent Car - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The E320 CDI is top notch and well worth the 50G+ price tag. Acceleration is smooth and effortless, the interior is attractive, quiet, and comfortable. It is literally a pleasure to drive back and forth to work. If the power, ride, and handling dont lift your spirits, the sound system surely will. This car has become my private decompression chamber. I look forward to driving it each and every day. It has that quality of ride and handling only the Germans seem able to pull off - firm yet compliant, and tight yet not punishing or noisy. Its as though the bad elements arising from the road are edited out, yet youre still left with outstanding feel and handling.

  • great car - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The best E class ever made. It has a look of the S class and drives great with added horse power!

  • A really advanced car - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Looked at all the Japanese cars like Acura RL and Infiniti M35. The E350, at first, seemed much less featured. This turns out not to be true. the car may lack voice activated features but it has everything else. Love the cruise control which actually brakes the car when you slow the car down. Would highly recommend the car.

I bought this vehicle, having owned a 2003 BMW 530i which I loved. My wife loved the MB even more so I purchased it for her. Ive come to like the MB even more than the BMW primarily because it feels more refined. Even the passenger compartment, although not much larger than the BMW, feels significantly larger. I still think the BMW handles better but the MB is no slouch. I do wish MB had the same no cost (for 4 years) maintenance package the BMW came with. In closing, I would buy the vehicle again!

  • My second new turbo diesel - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

My previous E-300 (99) was driven 87000 relatively perfect except for a ew electrical glitches and bad window carriage interior hardware. This CDI model gets better fuel mileage, is quieter and is more comfortable. All over Id rate it a 9.8. I wish it had 4- matic, but I was told that it was not available in the CDI model. The worse single feature is the radio/cd which cant hold a candle to the system in my 1999 model. Kardon vs Bose...

  • Another Amazing Benz - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

What an amazing vehicle. = Picked up in Wisconsin and drove 630 miles back to Kansas in sheer comfort and style getting 27 mpg the whole way. Seven-speed transmission is as smooth as butter and the 268-hp engine provides ample passing power. Car is Platinum Blue over Ash leather and is downright stunning. This is my fourth MB. Currently have this and an 04 C230 Kompressor. I have also owned an E320 sedan and an E320 wagon.
