Overview & Reviews
Diesel fans, rejoice! After years of waiting, a Mercedes-Benz diesel is once again available in the States, as the E320 CDI joins the lineup. For now, this model is only 45-state certified, meaning that it's unavailable in California, Maine, Massachusetts, New York or Vermont. Beginning in March 2005, the base E320 becomes the E350 with the addition of a 3.5-liter V6 with 51 more horsepower. At the same time, a sport package will be added, which features upgraded suspension tuning and wheels, as well as steering wheel-mounted shift buttons. Complimentary scheduled maintenance program has been dropped for 2005.
- Sleek and dignified design inside and out, pleasing blend of ride and handling, sophisticated safety features, all-wheel drive available on both sedans and wagons.
- More expensive than competitors, confusing control layout, electronically controlled brakes lack progressive feel.

CLK + S Class = E500 - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Steve of Georgia - April 25 - 10:00 amAfter facing the prospect of a second set of tires on my 2002 CLK430 in less than 20,000 miles, I took a test drive in an E500. I couldnt believe how quiet, powerful and luxurious it was. Less than two hours later, I was driving my new E500 home. From the 6CD Bose sound system, to the adjustable suspension, each drive reinforces the fact that this is by far, the best car Ive ever owned. Negatives are few, but I really dont like the gas/temp gauges. The car is the best looking in its class, but I would recommend black, looks great from any angle!

I love my MB 05 E320 - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By VA-DC Driver - April 13 - 1:36 amWe have been completely happy with our purchase. Owned it 3 years at this point, bought it 2 yrs old with 27k miles (cert preowned buy). It now has 72k. Sold my 04 C320Wagon (that we also loved) and bought the E Dont buy a Benz if you dont want to pay the premiums for servicing. This isnt a car for those who like to change their own oil. My Ford bought new and now same miles -yes cheaper to take care of but way way less of a vehicle. Changed brakes and tires at same intervel w Ford. I was warned by non Benz owners (jealous?) about alleged electronics issues but after 3 yrs havent had any probs.

My Dream Car! - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By W. MOrris - March 26 - 3:40 pmIn just 14 months, I worked my way up the AMG ladder. I went from a 2004 C 32 to the 2005 C55 to the awesome 2005 E 55. All cars were brand new. My E 55 is the ultimate in performance, looks, and power. I have never been denied by the engine when I demand more power. It is always there. The E 55 is not a large car. It rides beautifully, easy to maneuver and park yet has all the characteristics of a small sports car. It is tight, is a breeze to control especially with the adjustable air ride. I took it on a trip to California from BC and had a ball. Passing was joy. It was over before you knew it. My dream car, the E 55 will satisfy my needs for many years to come.

Sporty look with luxury and room - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Steve - March 3 - 7:56 amIve had many Jaguars, BMWs and Mercedes Benz. Mercedes seems to engineer their cars to do many things without the driver having to think about it. Not a lot of switches and gadgets to adjust while driving. As an example, Jaguar and BMW offer rain sensing wipers too. Theirs dont work as well and have to be set. MB has it as the standard first spot on the switch and they work perfectly in all amounts of drizzle to downpour. The car is quick but quiet. It looks sporty from the outside (and handles curves well) but holds four 6 plus tall adults in comfort and quiet on a 300 mile drive. The interior size of the new E seems more like the S models of old.

THE GREAT gets GREATER - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By William Waggoner - January 8 - 8:53 pmFor those who dont understand the difference between a vehicle that is designed for 65 vrs 155 this review will not be of help. While most car makers give you glitz to fool you how good their vehicles are, MB simply makes it happen. Try stopping from 75 and ask yourself a question, was it me or the vehicle that just saved my butt! MB will continue to move on. Other are simply just poor copies.

Stay away from E320: Poorest quality - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
By Jerry - January 7 - 2:16 amMore problems than you can imagine with the computer, buttons falling off, phone not working. Worst navigation system (Acura & Lexus are better -- I have both). Car had a sticker of $62K new with options. Could have bought four Hundays for that. Made the mistake of buying the SCAM of an extended warranty when the original warranty expired. Nothing but excuses as to why something isnt covered. Hands free phone that came with car doesnt work. Now they are saying its "trim" and not covered. Do yourself a favor and buy a Lexus. Thats what Im going to do. Mercedes "Summer of Love". Give me a break!
