This Year's Model Updates:

The new model year brings freshened exterior styling to the C-Class. A new dash, redesigned seats and tweaked trim pieces help to polish the interior up a bit, as well. A new audio system with six speakers and a CD player is standard across the board. Further updates include an improved short-throw six-speed manual transmission and revised suspension tuning. A DVD-based navigation system is newly available, while the C320 wagon has been discontinued. The complimentary scheduled maintenance program has been dropped for 2005.

Pros:
  • State-of-the-art safety and luxury features, three body styles to choose from, pleasing power from top V6 engine.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, ordinary cabin furnishings, small backseat.

Had car since it was new. 2005 Mercedes C-230 Kompressor. Dont get me wrong the car is beautiful and is a jet when it comes to ride and handling but thats not what we use it for. The car is a daily to work and back car and every now and then a road trip maybe one state over. it seems like every week there is some expensive service that needs to be done on it. The car eats tires due to a poor suspension geometry, and you have to change the brakes every 20k miles it seems like. The car leaks oil and constantly showing error messages. I pride myself at maintaining my cars but I cant seem to stay on top with this one. Getting rid of it as soon as possible. 90k on it now.

  • When your New Benz Breaks Down - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I bought this car on August 1st and she was in the shop on August 5th. Things happen. But guess what....Mercedes does have 2005 parts in stock in US...or Germany. After two months of driving a loaner. I started with letters to MBUSA. Threat of Lawsuits...etc. Finally, since the dealer was waiting till the cows came home. MBUSA intervened, they have asked someone to send the part over from factory. It is now October 20 and I am still waiting for my car.

  • Many Repairs - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Bought this 05 4Matic certified pre- owned two years ago. I have never had a car which was this new, in the shop as many times as this! Valve cover blew, problems with the automatic window/sunroof "summer" feature in the door handle, voltage regulator replacement after dash lights kept dimming, differential replacement, and now, knocking in the front end. Interior feels cheap, radio is absolutely horrible. "Leather seating inserts" are a crafty way of saying "mostly vinyl." Loud clunking of windshield wipers, and blasting loud defroster which first makes the windows totally fogged up, then clears them. Go figure with that one.

  • C230 is Better Than The C240 - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I purchased a C240 first in 2003 and then realized the features of the C240 2004 and traded.

  • Not too bad... - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Wanted the new SLK350, but not enough to wait for it, so I settled for a 2005 C320 4MATIC (back in August) and saved a few $s. Its a good solid car - relatively comfortable, drives well, brakes exceptionally evenly/smoothly. Looks nice in metallic silver with the ash interior - seems to shine a little bit brighter than most other silver cars (of which there are too many these days). Quality sound system. Limited back seat room when taller front seat passengers move em back. Generous trunk space. Ive had better AC systems in less expensive cars; the center arm rest/storage console is a strange size, limiting its uses. Im happy w/the car, but not blown-away. Kind of expected to be...

  • Solid Value and Fun - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

The C230 has been a solid and reliable purchase and wouldnt hesitate to do it all over again. It has the classic MB good looks in a package that is fun to drive without hitting the wallet in a bad way. The 1.8L Kompressor engine provides ample performance and zip. It is both fast and quick as well as being responsive to the touch. My C230 has 50,000 miles on it and has yet to see a service bay for other than the scheduled maintenance. Its fuel economy is in keeping with other 1.8L engines. Bottom line... I never get tired of driving it and plan on keeping it a long time.

  • Solid and fun - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

So I just turned 40 and needed a new car. With a new daughter (first child) I needed four doors and safety, as well as a little fun for Daddy. My first thought and test drive was an Acura TL. Mighty fine car, but just a little more biased towards performance handling and the incumbent stiff ride than I or the western PA roads would tolerate. My wife wanted a MB, but my price range and minimum performance requirements didnt seem to meet on paper. Well, you can only learn so much about a car on paper. A trip to the dealer on December 31st definitely helped. With just a little space left here, let me say that buyers remorse will not be a problem here! Quiet, with a bank vault feel.

  • Great Car - Bad Tires - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

I love the car. However, in spite of the fact that I drive it less than 12,000 miles a year, and always on well-kept expressways, I have had to replace 4 of my Continental tires in the past 15 months for bulges in the sidewalls "caused by pot holes" according to my MB service rep!

  • FUN! - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

After driving SUVs for years, I recently purchased C230 coupe. Our oldest daughter had just turned 16, with the additional car for our daughter I decided to trade in the last of my SUVs for this Mercedes. I can only say that as a mother of 3, driving had been limited to vehicles that would be large enough to haul all our kids, their friends and whatever else we could squeeze in :). When I was a in my 20s I bought what I could afford, then came the kids-practically was the focus- now-I drive for FUN! I do have a problem though, our 16 year old wants me to "share"..

  • Sunroof not level - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

Just purchased this vehicle for below invoice price. Its fun to drive this car so far. Only issue I would complain is its build quality - Sunroof is not leveled, right side is slightly "up". I went back to the dealer and noticed some MBs also were made like this, but some are just perfect. Dealer agrees to fix it.
