This Year's Model Updates:

Extensive changes for the Tribute this year include a new base engine, restyled exterior and a new electronic four-wheel-drive system. A floor-mounted shifter replaces the awkward column shifter, and ABS is now standard on all models.

Pros:
  • Roomy and comfortable interior, peppy V6 engine, drives more like a car than a truck, long list of standard features.
Cons:
  • Mediocre fuel economy and driving range on V6 models.

I just purchased a new Tribute and couldnt be happier. I had been looking into them for a while and was glad to finally get one. I think they are the best small SUV on the market. I would recommend that everyone try fightingchance.com to get the best price, I got mine $526 BELOW invoice cost. Deals are out there, you just have to look.

My Mazda tribute is is my baby, Handling is the best engine performance is great power right when you need it . You dont have to worry about handling curves because it is very smooth . Gas mileage on the highway is about 25-27 mpg. City mileage is poor 14-17 mpg.. All in all I love my Tribute

Just purchased a demo with 8700 miles. This car is like new, Ive researched many other small utes but this one tops them all. I was lucky to get an almost fully loaded unit, sunroof, 6 disc changer and subwoofer. It doesnt have the side or curtain airbags but I do like that it has ABS and 4 wheel discs. I live in the Sunbelt so no need for 4WD. This is an excellent vehicle and its carlike ride doesnt give you the feel of an SUV.

After driving and test driving SUVs for three months, we selected the Tribute to be the best overall. Price, style, comfort, fuel economy and ride. The Infinity FX35 and the GMC Envoy were close seconds. The leather package is very nice, the interior setup is very good. We took it on a 500 mile trip and it handled great! Fuel was great.

This Mini SUV has been a real pleasure to own! Before this vehicle, I had a 97 Ford Thunderbird, that I didnt really want to give up. But we needed something more suitable on gas, growing boys and a dog. We drove the Tribute from Florida, up to Mass, and the gas mileage was excellent. It handles great in the different climates, from rain to snow covered roads. I have two very energetic sons, and this SUV has been a huge plus in our active lives. For not purchasing a Lexus, or Mercedes SUV, I couldnt be happier so far!

I have had my Tribute for almost a year now and I am still crazy about it! My 2004 Tribute is an amazing vehicle, fun to drive, wonderful interior room and looks awesome! I have had one issue with a recall (back hatch latch) but it was taken care of quickly and have had no problems since. I highly recommend the Tribute, there is no greater small SUV out there!

  • Great Buy for an SUV - 2005 Mazda Tribute

Vehicle goes anywhere without problems...weve been off road, the beach, highway travelling, city commuting, Texas thunderstorms, Texas heat, loaded with family, and never experienced any problems with over 95,000 miles on the vehicle.

  • Excellent - 2005 Mazda Tribute

I have owned my Tribute since January. I test drove a Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner (all produced by Ford) and the Tribute was the best of the three. Better warranty, less expensive with a nicer interior and exterior. Gas mileage could be better.

  • Great Car - 2005 Mazda Tribute

I switched from a Mustang Convertible and was anxious that I wouldnt get that thrill moving up to an SUV. Obviously it isnt the same, but I thoroughly enjoy my Tribute. I picked the Tribute over the Escape because a)I liked some of the curves of the body style better and b)it seemed like everyone had an Escape. It handles like a car and has a much softer ride than hubbys Jeep Liberty. Never have any problem fitting my "stuff" into it and those who ride in the back seat are very comfortable. Auto 4WD is great and it just kicks in when needed. I have heated seats, sunroof, and leather and all are wonderful. I highly recommend this for those who want the room, but the drivability of a car.

  • Our Second Mazda Tribute - 2005 Mazda Tribute

We have a 2003 Mazda Tribute, and was so impressed with it, that we purchased a second one this year. 4WD handling is very sure-footed. Gas mileage is not a problem (if you read the reviews before you made the purchase) -- but not 12 mpg or anything extreme like that. Typically, 17/21 mpg city/hwy. The Tribute is excellent for towing too. Nice big moonroof and warm leather seats. Design is better in the 2005 versus the 2003 (gear-shift and air conditioning redesigned!). Cargo space is roomy, and the fold-down seats are easy to use. A little noisy, but highly recommended.
