Overview & Reviews
Extensive changes for the Tribute this year include a new base engine, restyled exterior and a new electronic four-wheel-drive system. A floor-mounted shifter replaces the awkward column shifter, and ABS is now standard on all models.
- Roomy and comfortable interior, peppy V6 engine, drives more like a car than a truck, long list of standard features.
- Mediocre fuel economy and driving range on V6 models.

I love my Zoom-Zoomer - 2005 Mazda Tribute
By Ldavisca1 - December 27 - 8:16 amAfter careful research, using Edmunds.com as a tool, I selected the Mazda Tribute after finding that it matched 9 of the 10 criteria I insisted on having in an SUV. The test drives I took on the freeway and mountain roads sealed the deal. The Tribute in size and comfort beat out all the mid-size SUVs I considered, the safety features and style are high on my list, and its an all-around pleaser on any road conditions it has faced. Driving it is not only fun, its satisfying. Its a head-turner with its step-tubes, gorgeous paint job, and all-around sporty look. The cargo area is spacious, easily accessible, and the secure. This SUV rocks!

everything I need - 2005 Mazda Tribute
By scott richards - October 10 - 7:36 pmMy first SUV and I really love it; looked at all the competition and kept coming back to the Tribute. I have package 3 with leather, roof and great stereo, also added dimming mirror, cargo net, wheel locks, bumper plate and side air bags; all for a great price when you take advantage of all the rebates available. This thing has plenty of room for hauling and still handles like a car, not loose like most SUVs. No complaints about the fuel economy (about 23 mph average). I only wish it had a larger fuel tank as the driving range is about 325 miles unless you go to fumes; it should have a 20 gallon instead of a 16.5 tank. For all the content, warranty and zoom-zoom you cant go wrong with a Tribute.

Dependable - 2005 Mazda Tribute
By Norm - September 3 - 6:26 amThe Mazda Tribute has been a good vehicle. We got all the options with a 6 cyl and the vehicle drives comfortably and has pretty good acceleration. On the highway it is smooth and not too noisy but mileage is only about 20 mpg. I dont like the sound of the accelerating engine in town - somewhat clunky and not a bit sexy - but it performs well nonetheless. CD player sounds good but my other car has a Bose so Im spoiled. Display light for AC is hard to see during the day, needs to be brighter. Plenty of room in cargo area and very handy fold down seats, although you have to remove the rear headrests to fold them down.

the best of the rest - 2005 Mazda Tribute
By tenpoundhead - July 7 - 3:13 pmI have 7k miles on my "Redfire" 2005 AWD Tribbie, and its a love hate relationship. Did a lot of comparison shopping, and it came down to this or the CRV. The Mazda cost a little more, but its worth it. Great small suv, very practical, awesome performance and handling (I live in the mountains of Colorado.) Even in the basic package w- out a lot of options, this vehicle rules. My main issue with it is that the strong Ford V6 is 1.) kinda noisy, and 2.) extremely thirsty. Im getting milage comparable to a Hummer! OK, not quite that bad, but no way Im getting the advertised MPG. Try about 17 MPG. Otherwise this is a fantastic SUV.

Tribute to the test - 2005 Mazda Tribute
By TexasBoy - March 25 - 10:00 amThis Tribute seems more reliable than average. Short wheelbase but with a softer suspension. Feels like a truck or more specifically, like a much shorter Explorer. It does seem fairly top heavy to me and like it could roll more easily than many. The stock stereo is below average. I think its one of the best looking compact SUVs on the market. Gas mileage is weak, but it is a truck. The V6 seems adequate (200 hp or so) at times and much more than adequate at other times. When you dial up the real power, the engine is much louder and feels like its straining. Small gas tank.

Supreme - 2005 Mazda Tribute
By Kimberly Estrada - March 24 - 2:00 amThis is the best suv around Mazda is the most reliable car. I have owned a Ford Explorer and it was terrible. I will never buy anything again if its not Mazda. This Tribute has great space in front and back. It is fun to drive has great suspension, etc. I could go on all day. If you need more info. you just need to test drive one and that will explain it all. Besides all the great features the price is right! Ive had 8 people buy a Tribute because they loved mine so much, even my neighbors have them, co-workers, etc. Just do yourselves the biggest favor and own yours now!
