This Year's Model Updates:

Although it maintains much of its chassis architecture, the 2010 Mazda 3 is otherwise an all-new car. Highlights include revised exterior styling, improved fuel economy and power, a more modern interior design and new luxury-oriented features.

Pros:
  • Athletic handling and performance, high-end interior, unparalleled available luxury features, available hatchback utility.
Cons:
  • Ride may be too firm for some, interior and trunk not as large as those of competitors.

  • Everything I expected. - 2010 Mazda Mazda3

I couldnt pass up the incentives on this car I had been interested in since 2004. My old car, though reliable, was 8 years old and rusting. It was time. I appreciate the Mazda3s straightforward interior design and comfort, unique styling, and quality of materials in and out. I expected a little extra wind and tire noise compared to my old mid-size car, and I got it, but its more than acceptable. The 2.5 engine pulls very strongly throughout the range and has a lot of pep. Mileage is average to good for this class of vehicle. Very satisfied with the vehicle and dealer.

  • Couldve been better - 2010 Mazda Mazda3

Bought almost 3 months ago, and while I like the style, I find it has little substance. I am very disappointed by the gas mileage. Averaging 21 miles in city and 29 on interstate. Should be better for a 4 cylinder. The automatic transmission is slow to respond sometimes. Rear seating is also a little cramp. Should have spent more time looking at other makes.

  • Luxury Car Replacement? - 2010 Mazda Mazda3

This is an initial review and Ill provide more feedback after logging more miles. However, here are some first thoughts. The Mazda 3s GT is a very fun car to drive, with good performance and excellent handling. It is not very refined, with much engine noise and some cheap interior materials. It is a very good car, but maybe not as great as people say. Compared to a Civic or Corolla it is worlds better; compared to an Audi or Saab it is worlds worse. The decontenting (no more mirror signals, foot well illumination, etc) that took place mid-year gives away some of the cars edge on competitors.

  • Fun to drive, but a real fuel hog! - 2010 Mazda Mazda3

I purchased my Mazda3 in Dec 2009, but ended up selling it just 6 months later. While the Mazda3 was absolutely a blast to drive, I never did fall in love with the goofy "smile" on the front end. The seats were tight and uncomfortable for any trip more than 20 minutes, and the interior styling was just too much black. But the kicker was the terrible fuel economy: I averaged just 25 mpg after putting 12,000 miles on the car. I sold the Mazda and got a Civic. Yeah, the Mazda was far more powerful, but the Civic gets 37 mpg on average, is more comfortable and is overall a wiser choice. Shame on Mazda for poor gas mileage!

  • Great Car for the Price - 2010 Mazda Mazda3
    By -

Ive always wanted a Lexus IS but am currently not in the income bracket to own one yet. I love the features and the look it has. The new Mazda3 was like a dream come true. While I was looking at the Civic on YouTube, I stumbled upon the Mazda3. Although its not a Lexus, it has a lot of features that are similar to it, for less the price! This is my first Mazda. Im not that big on cars, but I defintely like the new Mazda3s. My previous car was a 2003 Toyota Corolla S. Although, in my opinion, the exterior body of the car could be better (the front grill), to me the interior is what matters. I spend more time driving the car than looking at it.

  • Great Deal out there - 2010 Mazda Mazda3

Hi all. Im from Atherton, CA. Just got a new mazda 3 touring celestial blue w/ tech and roof packages a few days ago 06/07/10 after came to terms that I like driving more than going with the hybrid Insight (feels like you floating w/ Insight). Cant comment much since the maz is still new to me. Handling is good but not quite in the line of bmw 3 and that says a lot for the money. I would recommend readers to explore the lease option currently offer from mazda. I ended up leasing after a good finance guy explained and compared buy/leasing terms to me. My deal--$200 over invoice; 3.4 apr/15000 miles lease over 3 yrs. love the deal; no worries after warr. expires

  • Mazda 3 is better than BMW 3 - 2010 Mazda Mazda3

This car is awesome for the money! I had a BMW 3 prior. The Mazda has tons more features and drives and handles just like the BMW did. I think the inside is even better. I actually look forward to driving this car!

  • Too soon to know - 2010 Mazda Mazda3

I love this car, but I havent had it long enough to know how reliable its going to be. The seats are great, and its big on the inside. The speakers are good for stock. The only problem I have with it is that the paint seems like its very thin. I already have 2 chips on the hood, and 2 scratches on the passenger door. Its black and I guess thats to be expected, I had a charcoal grey car before and it didnt seem to scratch this easily.

  • 3rd mazda, 2nd mazda3 - 2010 Mazda Mazda3

I recently traded in my 2011 Mazda2 for a 2012 Mazda3, was a fantastic choice since the 2 is garbage. Then traded the 2012 3 for a 2010 for a little more miles and a lot less money. I got the car with 30k miles on it, all maintenance touched up, and a better deal. From what I know about the newer model I have high hopes for this one. The gas mpg is little shotty after driving the Skyactive engine, but it is even more fun to drive, with better handling. I love the Mazda3, its truly a unique sedan in this day and age.

  • Thought it would be faster! - 2010 Mazda Mazda3
    By -

After turning in my Mazda 6 I decided to try out the 3. The Grand Touring is worth the extra bucks with heated leather seats, moon-roof etc. The gas mileage for a smaller car kinda stinks since the best I could get is 24 mpg. The handling around tight turns is fun although I wish the car was faster. I thought the 2.5 engine on a smaller car would be better. The best 0-60 I could get was around 8 seconds. My manual shifting days are over so when they come out with the Mazda Speed in an automatic, Im there!
