This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, the Sedona has a revised grille with a larger logo. The EX model has a new alloy wheel design, while the LX has redesigned plastic wheel covers. A center tray table with cupholders is now standard on both EX and LX.

Pros:
  • Excellent value, roomy interior with lots of cupholders and storage bins, solid build quality, lengthy warranty coverage.
Cons:
  • Below-average gas mileage, missing a few key minivan features, potentially expensive to repair in minor collisions.

  • Great buy!! - 2004 Kia Sedona

After reseaching the Sedona using Edmonds.com, I came to the conclusion that this would be a great minivan for our family. All that was needed was to see the vehicle, test drive and work out the numbers. The vehicle has more features than we could have ever bargained for and we worked the price to fall right where I wanted it. If you havent checked this vehicle out yet, your missing on the best buy for your $$$. MPG may be a little low, but the few miles that we dont get per gallon wont be missed. Oh, dont forget that this vehicle has the 5 star rating for crash tests.

Solid, dependable transportation. Used for carpool and as a construction material transporter (built on a truck chassis, takes the weight, more flexible than a small pick-up). Search parts suppliers on the web to avoid buying dealer parts, have yr. local mechanic install them, example, brake pads, rotors, struts. Change all fluids often to ensure vehicle longevity. Be prepared for front end issues as with all front wheel drive vehicles (see above comment re: parts). Now 90,000 miles, runs well, maintenance about $500/yr. all in. (Fluids and repairs). Seats are uncomfortable to install or remove. Belt tensioner requires tightening flywheel occasionally-cost=0

we found the kia to be very nice compared to some we test drove. also the dealer has jumped to our every request with no hassle. the only design flaw is a small noise comming from engine area. i even test drove twoo others and the same noise was there. other than that the van is great. i would buy an

The van is a great vehicle. I have had zero problems and this year we put 33,000 miles on it. We live out in the country so the gas mileage hurts a little, but over all it is a great vehicle for the price. I would buy it again. NO regrets

  • THE BEST VALUE IN MINIVAN HISTORY!!! - 2004 Kia Sedona
    By -

AMAZING MINIVAN!! Coming from a formerly dissatified and VERY CRITICAL Kia Sportage owner, this is an EPIPHANY! We got a decent deal on a 2004 EX with leather, ABS, a 10 yr/100k extended warranty and a security system for $20,345(minus $3000 rebate and $2100 for our 1993 Mercury Villager). I wanted a Nissan Quest S, but God had a better plan!

  • What di you expect it is a mini van! - 2004 Kia Sedona

Not much to say. If you are looking for a speed demon that turns like it is on rails this is not the vehicle for you. If you are like me and have a family that likes to travel a lot and need the extra space this is a nice choice. IMHO way better than any north American minivan but not as good as a Honda or a Toyota on par with the Nissan. I bought it used to save $$$ as the sedona has a terrible resale value and is an excellent used buy. It handles great for a van, a bit noisier than most mini vans but feels solid and well built. Acceleration was more than adequate and Im overall happy with this vehicle.

  • We put A LOT of miles on this van! - 2004 Kia Sedona

Over 180,000 miles on this van and still going. I keep changing the oil and it keeps going! Ive had to replace the water pump twice and the coil packs went out so we replaced those. Air conditioner worked well up til last summer. The suspension doesnt seem to be that great and I havent sprung to replace the struts although the van needs it-- but really, how many more miles am I going to be able to put on it? Im really happy with it over all.

  • Not bad but ages prematurely - 2004 Kia Sedona

Bought new from dealer end of 03. This minivan has plenty of power and ample passenger room. However, cargo space is very limited. Ran flawlessly the first 1.5 years, then brakes began to squeal. We replaced the brakes on warranty twice in the first 50K miles, a bit undersized for weight of the vehicle, maybe? Also replaced wheel bearings, again on warranty. The Kia dealership where we bought and service the car is tops, but I wish we didnt have to spend so much time visiting with them on warranty issues. Now the engine sounds like its getting tired. Were Trading it in this weekend (probably not another Kia) before it gives up the ghost for good.

Its so nice that its easy to put on miles and not know it.

  • Almost a 10 - 2004 Kia Sedona

Have this car for over a year and Im still in love with it. Its lived up to all my expectations and then some. Its easy to handle, great on gas and the maintenance is a dream come true. The only thing that I would change is the positioning of the second row passenger side seat. It should be closer to the door for easier access.
