This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, the Sedona has a revised grille with a larger logo. The EX model has a new alloy wheel design, while the LX has redesigned plastic wheel covers. A center tray table with cupholders is now standard on both EX and LX.

Pros:
  • Excellent value, roomy interior with lots of cupholders and storage bins, solid build quality, lengthy warranty coverage.
Cons:
  • Below-average gas mileage, missing a few key minivan features, potentially expensive to repair in minor collisions.

  • KIA, A Great Buy, A Great Van - 2004 Kia Sedona

We love our mini van. It has everything we wanted and the price was fantastic. There are just us two "old folks", but we both certainly enjoy driving this auto. The layout of the van is great for carrying all our grandchildren around with us, and for toting groceries and all our other purchases. And so many great features!!

  • Love this van BUT - 2004 Kia Sedona

ok just one gripe I am 59" tall and the roof seems to come down on my hear if I didnt get the sun roof it might have been a better deal but the seat sits to close to the roof for me.. other than that. I love the cost and with the exception of the timeing belt that must be changed at 60,000 miles all is well wiit owning the machine. Thanks Kia the same EX in an American brand would have cost me about 14K more dollars, well see if I get a great trade in deal in 6 years BTW, I have a 2002 Sedona

  • Not worth the money - 2004 Kia Sedona

Of course a new van is gonna be nice and not have problems, but after a year the transmission was making noise and not performing well. Than 4 years later, the power steering pumb and something else is out, tranny is bad and motor acts up. Only has 32,xxx miles and should be running great! It doesnt. It was the main transportation for my handicap grandmother, who now has to relay on finding other people to take her places like her doctors apt! The van sits in the street broke down, and we still owe $3,000 on it. Cant trade it in, cause we owe more than its worth. Quilfys for a Clunker, but we ow money. So we are stuck with this piece of junk KIA. Never get another one!

  • Where do I start? - 2004 Kia Sedona

I am always amazed to see newer Sedonas on the road. I cant understand why anyone would buy one of them anymore. My car had so many problems during the warranty that I was one of 10 people across the U. S. to participate in a J.D. Powers interview at my local Kia dealership. Several engineers from Korea were there also to examine my car along with J.D. Powers staff. The whole thing was taped for whatever reason. Front brakes including the rotors have to be replaced every 20K. Front tires and struts, and engine mounts, ditto. Horn was replaced at least six times. A/C proportioning valve had to be replaced. Rear deck lid struts went out quickly.

  • very unhappy - 2004 Kia Sedona

I have driven many minivans, most drive more like a car. This one feels more like a truck. Vibration at low speeds and an engine hum all the time. Pick up isnt very good. Turning radius is very poor, but above all gas performance is extremely bad; like 13 miles to a gallon. I wish I would have paid a little more and gotten another brand.

  • Many problems in the beginning - 2004 Kia Sedona

When we first recieved the van we were ok until we hit 700 miles. The check engine light came on and would not go off even with the dealer working on it. It took 6 dealer attempts to finally fix it. Then the passenger window came loose. Then the horn would not work. We finally have a working van after 4 months of having it. I am not impressed with the gas mileage. I get below 15mpg even with freeway driving. I think the highest Ive gotten was 17mpg and Im not sure how I did that. Overall nice van but would like them to improve the gas mileage!

  • Disappointed - 2004 Kia Sedona

I am disappointed with the 2004 Kia Sedona. Very poor gas mileage, about 12 mpg in town. Quality is poor. Rear hatch has a clunk sound when opening and the windows have the same when when closing. The bench seat in the middle is a big hassle. Dealer said the middle and rear seats are interchangeable which they are not. I will not buy another Kia.

  • Candy Carrier - 2004 Kia Sedona
    By -

I have a candy/beverage vending company. I do a lot of starting and stopping and also spending time in this vehicle. It is my home away from home and believe me the seat in this van is just as comfortable as my lounge chair at home. In short...I love it!
