An AM/FM/CD stereo and a tilt steering wheel are now standard on all 2004 Jeep Wrangler models. A new aluminum wheel design is standard on Sahara models and optional on Sport models. Right-hand-drive versions are also available for fleet utility service. A Columbia Edition option package is also new for 2004.

Cons:
  • Soft top a handful to manipulate, difficult ingress-egress, slow steering, bouncy suspension on the street.

  • A dream come true! - 2004 Jeep Wrangler

For darn near forever weve wanted a REAL Jeep. Ive had other 4X4s and an 85 4 Cyl Cherokee that was darn near impossible to destroy (other than self inflicted wounds). It took me everywhere I wanted to go and then some. Our Astro van had 0ver 200K on it and the wife said "Lets get me (meaning her)a Jeep". Eh....ok. Gave the van to the kids and we bought a Solar Yellow Rubicon, loaded. Wife went from Soccer Mom to "Whos yer Mommy?" Are we happy with it? Very much so! Her Jeep...MY payments and upkeep...But I did get to "Accesorize" it and I have weekend visitation rights!!! WOO HOO...I can live with that!

  • Why We Divorced our Jeep - 2004 Jeep Wrangler

My wife and I greatly enjoyed driving this vehicle - however, it was truly a Love-Hate relationship. Over the period of 18 months, we had this Jeep back to the dealership for steering column thud over bumps (fixed, but not until after they replaced portions of the rear suspension), clutch master cylinder failure making smooth starts impossible (fixed), water leaks from hood hinges (could not duplicate problem - not fixed) and two trips to attempt correction of "pre-ignition" (first time fixed, second time told to take to another dealer). Although we did enjoy our Jeep, we knew with only 18 months of ownership that we would never keep it past its warranty expiration.

  • First Wrangler, Unlimited is perfect! - 2004 Jeep Wrangler

I previously owned a KJ and put 266K miles on it. I purchased an LJ (Unlimited Wrangler) because I always wanted a Wrangler but it just wasnt practical until now. This Jeep is great off road and bearable on. I took this Jeep to Paragon off road park and could not believe what it could muster being stock with a longer wheelbase. This Jeep is perfect for business during the week and wheeling on the weekends!

I have been very satisfied overall with this vehicle. It is fun to drive, and having the 4WD available, though I have yet to use it, gives me piece of mind. I gave it a 9 for comfort due to the lack of a door arm rest, which really is not a problem as the center console is there. I gave it a 6 for fuel economy because its 15-19 mpg is reminiscent of the 80s era vehicles. It has had, as yet, no mechanical or body work though I do intend to add the tow bar, which I think should be standard given the lack of trunk space with passengers aboard. While I think I will never part with it, I am also pleased with the TMV and resale value.

I love my Jeep Wrangler. Its the best car you can have. Youve got the best of both worlds, its a SUV and a convertible. What more could you want?

  • Best one of the bunch - 2004 Jeep Wrangler
    By -

This is my third Jeep; 1999, 2002 and now a 2004. This is by far the best one of the bunch! It rides much better and the sound deadening improvements are huge! I cant wait to test its off road capabilities.

  • 3rd one is a charm - 2004 Jeep Wrangler
    By -

Ive had two other wranglers. This one is clearly the best of the best. I have had the chance to take it off road on several occations and it performed great. Im always getting compliments on it. It gets more attention than my friends Corvette Z06. The only complaint is the gas mileage. @15-18mpg with manual trans. However, I knew that going into it. Get one before they stop making them. A true collectors item.

New rear end unexpectedly @ 8000 miles. The new air lock broke while backing up a very small incline and one back wheel spun. Unable to unlock rear lock, towed to nearest dealer and warranty covered it. For a jeep built for off road, I was surprised by how little it took on road to break it. So far so good @ 9000 miles.

  • Great car, but spark knocks horribly - 2004 Jeep Wrangler
    By -

The Jeep wrangler is a great car, but both of them that Ive had spark knock and the dealership mechanics can never figure out whats wrong with it. It hinders the fun of driving it.

  • The best...period - 2004 Jeep Wrangler
    By -

As a trail driving lover, the sedelopment of the Rubicon is quite possibly the best thing to ever happen to a jeep. it is rough and can take on anything that we have put it up to. i highly recoment this car to anyone slightly interestedin 4 wheeling.
