Overview & Reviews
The 2008 Jeep Liberty has been fully redesigned. It remains true to its off-road heritage with two different four-wheel-drive systems to choose from, but much attention has been paid to improve on-road ride and handling characteristics via revised suspension and steering systems. Redesigned sheet metal projects an even more rugged Jeep persona, while inside there's more room, more creature comforts and an available new power Sky Slider open-air canvas roof. As with all new Chrysler products, this year's Liberty is also covered by a new limited lifetime powertrain warranty.
- Respectable off-road capability, simple and functional cabin, high towing capacity.
- Modest and thirsty V6 engine, poor headlight illumination, subpar interior materials, upgraded ride and handling still not as carlike as many rivals.

Fun for a car..I mean Jeep - 2008 Jeep Liberty
By James R - July 18 - 8:23 pmI bought this car with the intention of making small modifications to improve the offroad work, like wheels and lights, only to find out later that the modifications shown in the catalog will not be produced by Jeep Chrysler, and the dealership gave me the heave-ho when I went back after discovering this false advertising

2008 Liberty limited is awesome - 2008 Jeep Liberty
By VICTOR - April 13 - 4:46 pmI have had my Liberty for a week now, and love it. I was originally going to buy a 08 Patriot, but was not happy with its freeway performance, then I drove the Liberty and I fell in love with it. This is my first Jeep, I have always liked the Grand Cherokee, but never bought one, but you know I sat in one and my Liberty has more headroom and legroom in the back seat. So far in a week, I think its a pretty solid vehicle. There is just a bit of wind noise around the right side of the windshield, Bt I read that is because of the boxy shape. but overall I am enjoying it, there is so much for the price..

Fun + Stylish + Touch of Luxury - 2008 Jeep Liberty
By Joe D - March 22 - 10:43 pmGot the 08 Limited Edition Liberty at fire sale prices in October. What a fun, fun car. We live in the Northeast and the car handled all the snowy weather beautifully. But the sunny days allowed that Sky Slider Roof to really brighten your day. The car came with Sirius radio free for 1 year (cool!), leather heated seat and factory installed remote start (again, think harsh PA winters). All the chrome makes the Liberty look cool and the two kids still in car seats still have a good amount of room.

Confused Liberty Owner - 2008 Jeep Liberty
By Tom Vander Woude - February 24 - 1:33 pmDrove all mid-sized SUVs reported to be the best in class, Highlander, Outlander, CR-V, saw ads about lifetime warranty for Jeep products and decided to test drive the Liberty, could not believe how the Liberty handled, read Consumer Report review and was confused if they drove the same Liberty I did, have tried to find a good review on the Liberty with no luck, vehicle may lack refinement the others have but considering incentives and warranty this was a easy decision.

Crappy Skyslider - 2008 Jeep Liberty
By NB - January 29 - 2:23 pmI feel that the Liberty fits a niche between the cute small sport utes and the more expensive larger SUVs. Its kind of in a class by itself. Though I think usually classified with Rav-4, Escape, etc. Compared to them really only 1 choice if you want to ever haul anything or cruise down a trial in the backwoods. Wish they called it the Cherokee again. Im somewhat of a redneck, but work downtown everyday in IT. This Jeep does great for both downtown tight driving/parking and also off road. HUGE HUGE complaint is the skyslider. Horribly designed. Broke immediately and Jeep wont stand behind it. Im considering Lemon Law. Its been in dealership over 10 times for same problem.

Sky Slider Problems - 2008 Jeep Liberty
By danielleboyd - January 6 - 3:46 pmI bought my 2008 jeep liberty suv in May 2011. The sky slider (moonroom) very loud. Now yesterday March 28, 2012 the sky slider broke on the pasenger side. Took it to the jeep dealer today March 29, 2012, and was told that the rod that goes throught the track on the pasenger side was broke and needs to be replaced. Also I was told that it would cost $4-$5000.00 dollars to me its not worth fixing. So I found this site and am shocked to see all the reviews in reguards to this same year and problem. Thank you to one of the post and gave me the number to call DMV to report problem so maybe they will recall this. To those of you with this same issue please call this number 1-888-327-4236.

Great budget crossover - 2008 Jeep Liberty
By bryan - October 17 - 5:33 amDont believe the less than stellar pro reviews, read the reviews by actual owners. Its not flashy, it doesnt try to be. If youre bent on luxury, this isnt it, but its by no means uncomfortable or ugly. As far as crossovers go the mileage doesnt compare to the subarus or other japanese models, but this one will take you much farther into the woods than they will. Its not a full on SUV like a wrangler, but its very capable in lighter duty applications where the rocks, mud, and water are less severe. This is so far the best vehicle I have ever driven on snowy, icy roads, and I drive big macho F-350 and 550 trucks all day. AWD (with a lock option) is far superior to 4WD on snowy roads.

Great vehicle - 2008 Jeep Liberty
By D. Kissell - July 13 - 9:40 pmReally nice Jeep, pretty comfortable to drive/ride in, has a lot of good features for the price. Seems a little smaller on the inside than it looks from the outside, but theres adequate storage space. Pretty good value and a great warranty program and has a 5-star crash rating.

Good entry SUV - 2008 Jeep Liberty
By juggalonic - July 4 - 3:00 pmOverall I love my Liberty. For the money you can not find a better small SUV. The only negatives I have found: small-ish gas tank (roughly 300 miles to a tank); plastic trim pieces scratch easily (but are not too noticeable); sitting position takes getting used to in front seats (wide transmission tunnel, I heard that this actually better after the redesign). The exterior looks are aggressive and the 3.7 L engine has plenty of PEP. It did fine hauling 2 motos on a trailer also. The basic options are better than the competitors and the safety features are tops too. No small SUV holds value like a Jeep (and I am a Ford man!)

hate the skyslider - 2008 Jeep Liberty
By steve - May 23 - 9:16 pmI sold my 2000 Cherokee which I loved. I wanted the new Liberty with skyslider roof. Just got it back from the dealership, they put the kit in it to fix wind noise from roof. At speeds below 45 I love the vehicle. On the highway it is so loud. It doesnt leak water or air, but you cant even talk with the passenger in a normal speaking tone. My advice buy something else.
