  • Maybe Im just unlucky - 2006 Jeep Commander

I have owned just about every model Jeep prior to 06 so I know what to expect from my Jeeps (or so I thought). I have all service performed at the dealership. This car has spent more time in the shop than every other Jeep I have owned COMBINED! I have had 2 computer modules replaced, had the transmission replaced, had 5...yes FIVE new nav radio systems (each time I have to pay Sirius another transfer fee), had the 4wd wiring harness short out, dead electrical system left me stranded, a burst fuel line molded through the firewall (that was a doozey of a repair bill), and now I find myself stranded 900 miles from home because the 4WD system decided not to talk to the main computer any longer

  • I Love My Jeep So Far! - 2006 Jeep Commander

I have only had my Jeep for a little less than a month, but I am enjoying it a lot. It only has 20,000 miles and its a V6 AWD, and that has plenty of power as far as I am concerned. I am getting about 16 mpg, and that is way better than our Suburban (what I was driving) and as good or better than many mid-size SUVs, such as Explorers. I love the way the Jeep drives, I drove an 06 BMW X5 before and I think the Jeep drives just as great!!!! I would definitely recommend a used one if you can find a good deal, mine was only $14900, that is way better than buying a new one! As for being an 18 y-o with his first car, I feel very save in it, especially with all those airbags.

  • Worth it for several reasons - 2006 Jeep Commander

I bought the 5.7L HEMI used after some friends had trouble with the 3.7L. Engine runs great and I always have the power when I need it. I was very surprised with the very quiet cabin during highway rides, and smooth ride overall as well. Also, 5-star crash ratings and side airbags are a must for vehicles this size and the Commander has them. Luxury feel with the Limited package at a great price if bought used. Havent had any issues yet, and will keep our fingers crossed as we approach the 50,000 mile plateau, where others have seen problems. Considering an extended warranty.

  • Better Fuel Mileage PLEASE - 2006 Jeep Commander
    By -

Unique atyling. Outstanding ride for an SUV. Big and roomy for my three children. Performance is good for the 6 cylinder. This Jeep definitely is a head turner. But fuel mileage is HORRIBLE-16 MPG on the road and 14 around town. My 2000 4Runner got 20 MPG consistently.

Leased one of first delivered. So far, very satisfied. Ride is great, interior is simple, but still elegant. Have family, and the back row is as great as we had hoped for two kids. Was very very surprised that this vehicle was priced a little under the Cherokee.

Nice SUV. Loves to eat gas however, but great highway drive and super in winter or sloppy conditions.

Had a 97 Pathfinder w/ 197K on it & considered another (but noisy ride) & 4Runner (expensive & tight). Loved the Commander look but was hesitant due to reliability concerns. Too early to know if I made a mistake, but purchased the 100k warranty just in case. I have friends who have Jeeps with 200K. My sisters Honda Odyssey is in the shop all the time. Sometimes you just get a bad one. So far the ride is plush & surprisingly quiet relative to Pathfinder/4Runner. Got $10K off sticker on an 06 model. Worth the money given the 07 is not different. Wife was not a big fan of the boxy look but has definitely grown to appreciate its look and features.

  • Commander is a Great Jeep - 2006 Jeep Commander

I have had my Commander for a few months now and have put it through rush hour and trips across the mountains in Colorado and i have been pleased and comfortable the whole time. It has enough power to push me up the mountains on onto the freeway. Yes, it does not throw into my seat when I press on the gas, but I did not expect that from a two and a half ton giant. A little squat in my seat makes me happy, nonetheless. The ride is smooth and quiet and things seem put together well. I have been in older Chrysler products and this one is truly a HUGE improvement. Overall, I am happy with my Commander, bring on more snow!

  • Hate the seat belt sound - 2006 Jeep Commander
    By -

Got the car in September of 06, i love it has great power on the 4.7 eat a boat load of gas if your doing a lot of city driving. the tire light went on for no reason, hate it when the dash board looks like a Christmas tree. the dealer ship blamed it on the weather. the seat belt alarm could stress you out big time make you want to brake something its very very annoying. and it wont stop until you buckle up. but for highway driving after like 2 min it shuts up. over all the jeep is a monster and a lot of fun to drive. get a pair of shades and cruise its a lot of fun
