The 2006 Jeep Commander is a new seven-passenger SUV based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee's basic platform.

- Low-grade interior materials, minimal legroom for third-row seat, mediocre cargo capacity, poor gas mileage with the big V8s.

No dip stick!! - 2006 Jeep Commander
By lisaray - September 8 - 11:43 amWas extremely upset to find that the transmission was leaking and went to check the oil and found that there was NO DIP STICK!! Will be getting rid of the vehicle soon. Will NEVER purchase another Jeep because of this. What if I was on the road and something went wrong w/ the vehicle and really needed to check my oil? Wow, out of luck. They sure do want to make sure to get your money. Love the vehicle, but never again.

Jeep - 2006 Jeep Commander
By Missy R - September 4 - 4:50 pmThe tank is small and the fuel mileage is terrible so Im at the gas station quite often. Also because of the stadium seating it is hard to see through the rear mirror. The upside is pretty good though. Its the best driving SUV I have owned and it is extremely comfortable.

recall - 2006 Jeep Commander
By marcus - July 25 - 10:03 amI bought this car for my wife after looking at a number of cars. One of the first things that I noticed when I drove it home is that this thing is going to love gas. But I was ok with that because this is something my wife would drive and she only do about 50 miles a week. Overall I love the way the looks and drive with that 4.7 v8. I had some concerns after reading a fee reviews from edmunds whether I made the right decision on going with the Jeep. I have experienced the wind noise from the windshield and the engine stalling. But I got on to Jeep website and went to the owners link and to my surprise the have issued a recall on the engine stalling. So hopefully this will fix that problem.

Watch out for the windshield - 2006 Jeep Commander
By Nestorr - July 12 - 11:26 amOverall the Commander is an eye catcher. I love how it drives, but unfortunately the windshield is very weak. I replaced it twice in the past 2 months. Is not a good sign when a "Trail rated" vehicle cant take a hit from small debris. It can sustain direct hits from road hazards as long as its not hit on the edges of the glass. I would like to know how the Hummers windshield performs when it comes to road hazards.

Jeep Commander - 2006 Jeep Commander
By tinacole01@comcast.n - June 29 - 5:03 pmI love this vehicle i feel very safe in it. the only issue is the design to access the 3rd row seating. other then that i love it. I love the power when you need it. If you have to merge onto the freeway or interstate quickly that is never an issue. I will be sad to see that under our new administration in the white house that our safety on the roads will be comprised over the new large lies about the EPA. So with that said i hope to hold onto my commander for a long time.

great - 2006 Jeep Commander
By c - June 21 - 4:10 pmvery happy with our choice..We have the standard features but upgraded to the 4.7 v8 -- I get 18mpg and have lots of punch when needed. Feels and drives like a more expensive vehicle. We drove 4-5 competitors and this was an easy winner Jeep hit a home run with this one.

Easy SUV to drive - 2006 Jeep Commander
By JamesCommander06 - April 4 - 4:53 amIve owned several SUVs and full size trucks and this thing rides better than any. Its got a better truning radius than most full size cars. I did have an issue right out of the start with the transmission down shifting hard into 2nd on deceleration. The dealer reset the computer and it went away. The gas mileage is also very poor averaging a little over 15 mpg mixed use. On long road trips the seat puts my legs to sleep and I get sharp pains in my legs. I wish I would have gotten the Hemi.

I like it, I love it! - 2006 Jeep Commander
By bigmaninds - March 19 - 9:06 amI have 100,000 miles on my 2006 and not one single problem. I ask it to do something and without hesitation the Jeep does it. Plenty of room with my camping buddies and all our gear. Very reliable and wouldnt trade it for anything. Her name is "Billy".
