Overview & Reviews
The S-Type gets minor styling revisions in the form of smaller taillights, a tighter-looking deck lid and a restyled front fascia. New exterior panels have tighter fits, while the hood is now made of aluminum. Interior upgrades include new Bronze Madrona trim, a revised instrument panel and an optional aluminum trim package. Eight-cylinder models get a new VDP package that adds premium heated leather seats, burled walnut trim and unique 17-inch alloy wheels.
- Elegantly appointed interiors, solid all-around performance, classic British styling, full load of standard safety equipment.
- A few cheap interior bits, high price, fussy J-gate shifter.

Love my Jag - 2005 Jaguar S-Type
By Scott - April 30 - 1:16 amI love this car, however I have had one problem which the dealer fixed which was the electronic parking brake module went bad. Other than that its rides great and I have had it in the snow once (7inches) and the car performed on snow covered roads very well.

S type - Stand out from the crowd - 2005 Jaguar S-Type
By Tony - December 26 - 11:23 pmI have owned my S type R for quite some time now and I have to say its a pleasure to drive. The looks alone make it stand out from the masses but the performance is sensational. Jaguars of old have had some bad press, Im here to say thats all changed. What other performance sedan can you buy used with a 400 hp engine for under $40k? These cars are classics in waiting and represent fantastic bang for your buck.

My bad cat - 2005 Jaguar S-Type
By Royce Moss - December 7 - 4:30 amMy platinum S type is a dream car. The ride is smooth and comfortable. The interior is beautiful and functional. The 3.0 engine has plenty power and is very responsive and nimble. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this car. I especially like the adoring comments and looks I get from everyone.

2005 Jaguar S-type 3.0 Sport Package - 2005 Jaguar S-Type
By kapriako1 - July 16 - 2:33 amI am amazed that Edmunds has such poor reviews for this car when they did not even test drive it. I would assume since this is the case with the test drive it is going off its older reviews and what the manufacturer says it changed. I love this car, never had a problem with it. I have owned several Jags throughout the years and this car stands out in ride and performance. I am also interested in the misinformation about Ford owning Jag for the XF, Ford no longer controls Jag or Land Rover that was out in 2008. I would say anyone wanting a Stype should buy one no older then 2005 but of course that is what i would say with any car. Make sure its been well maintained and keep it up.

Nice, but VERY High Maintenance - 2005 Jaguar S-Type
By JGY - May 26 - 10:00 amI bought this car and the dealer highly suggested I purchase the extended warranty, and Im glad I did. I like the car, drives great, is quiet, shifts smoothly, fuel economy is ok, around 21 avg. However, it is in the shop every 2-4 months for either oil leaks, electrical probs (my wife called me this morning saying the temp read out was flashing on and off), transmission fluid leaks, parking break motor going out, etc. and I have only had it 2 years. The dealer is normally good about giving me a loaner, and they always fix it for free, except when the gas tank latch broke. I thought that was bad, but didnt say much. All in all, I would never buy a Jag again, but I am glad I owned a nice car

S-Type - 2005 Jaguar S-Type
By TBIRD - March 24 - 10:00 amThis car is very fast. I expected the ride to be very firm, but I have been pleasantly surprised by how well it rides and handles. Jaguar has done an excellent job. The car is stylish, yet when you put your foot into it... wow.

It is not a BMW or a Mercedes.... - 2005 Jaguar S-Type
By Barry Lee - February 21 - 6:40 pmWithin 3 months this car has been serviced 3 times for a bad transmission that they have not been able to fix. It has a jolt. Car is great but a problem is a problem and at this price I say go elsewhere. I never had this with BMW or Mercedes and I own all three. The dealer has never given me any confidence about repairs, as I think they are doing this often.
