The base manual 4 cylinder Tiburon is not recommended by me. The engines idle stays very high, (around 2-3,000 RPM) and makes for a horrible shift, while wearing out the clutch. My Tiburon has 7,500 miles and the clutch is starting to shatter. I once timed how long it took for it to idle down while coasting, exceeded 30 seconds, only stopping because i came to a complete stop. Hyundai made it clear that they will not help in any way because thats how they say they designed it. I would like to have known that before i bought it!! I did drive one prior to this purchase which did NOT perform the same way. Basically Hyundai is not standing behind this vehicle!!!

The car is a surpirse and a blessing from Hyundai after the last Tiburon. The previous model was ugly, underpowered and worthless.

I waited years for a car like this that I could afford without breaking the bank.

I owned a 94 TransAM, when it came time to lay her to rest i didnt have a lot of money but i didnt want to buy someone elses problems. So i bought a tiburon. It was a very affordable price and the big warranty gave me some piece of mind that it would be reliable...... But now it has 17k miles on it and ive had a new clutch and transmission, ive spent over 5 thousand dollars in repairs from the clutch, 1600 dollars, and then a wreck from the brakes locking on a turn. Overall its a good car but its not made to be driven like a sports car without some major mods.

  • Awesome car for price - 2003 Hyundai Tiburon

I paid only $6700 for the car and was well worth it. The 6spd is awesome! Although they should have forgone the metering valve (I took it out) used with the transmission to make it "slip" so that it can be a "friendly" vehicle for everyone to drive along with less slop in the shifter linkage. Should have beefed up the suspension a little bit also to get the tires to stick to the road better and make for a more aggressive feel. Lighter wheels would help too (17" stock are 18 lbs!). With a little bit of money and time it can be built a little to change these "problems". I do love the car though. Very fun to drive and turns heads all the time. Decently powerful v6 and not bad gas mileage for v6

  • HOT! - 2003 Hyundai Tiburon

I owned an 84 Camaro and as I was sitting in the shop, I saw a magazine and was reading it and they had an article about the new Tiburon and I saw it and decided that I had to get it. I went to the dealership didnt test drive it, didnt argue over the price and got it. Its been a lot of fun it. I just had a cold air intake and cat back exhaust added to it and this thing really picks up. I was able to beat a turboed Eclipse with it. By the way, I am 56" so I fit in it nice and snug. I had a friend drive it and he said it "drove like a dream." This car is purely amazing and a heck of a lot of fun to drive.

  • Warranty Stinks!!! - 2003 Hyundai Tiburon

I really love my Tiburon, its so fun to drive but Ive only had it a year and now the clutch went out and it broke the flywheel. $1700.00 at the dealership!! What I dont understand is why am I being penalized because I own a maual transmission if it was an automatic I would actually reap the benefits of the bumper to bumper warranty! I actually own 2 mine has 57,000 mi. my husbands only has 33,000 his did exactly the same thing. The dealership claims this is a rare problem - bull!!!! Beware if the clutch goes out your in for a big repair bill!!

  • Great car with small issues - 2003 Hyundai Tiburon

Ive owned this car for about 1 1/2 years, so its a fair time to pass judgment. On the highway its a blast, and rides like a larger car. People constantly mistake it for a more expensive sports car. My complaints are with little things. One of the rear seat belts seldomly works, and the passenger side window generally works only after you bang the side of the door with your hand. The paint job is mediocre at best. I didnt notice how bad it was when I bought the car because it was raining at the time. I would probably buy another Hyundai, because the alternative is a much higher priced Toyota or Honda, with possibly better quality, but far more arrogant dealerships.

  • Best Sports car for the buck - 2003 Hyundai Tiburon

I bought this sports car because: 1) cheapest, good looking sports car 2) allowed for lots of leg room for growing young boys 3) hatchback has been awesome with room! ,6) had the most FREE options - a lot of them 7) had the best and longest warranty 8) has only needed regular maintenance upkeep so far (tuneup - once every 7 years - im bad) oil changes about every 3-4 miles - 100k miles now

  • This car is great!!! - 2003 Hyundai Tiburon

I recently bought me a Tiburon and I love to drive this baby. Besides the car being heavy for a sports car, I love to fix up the car. Its fun to drive, fun to work on, good looking, and its a must buy car for everybody who dont know much about Hyundai Tiburon!!!
