This Year's Model Updates:

For 2007, Hyundai has shuffled the Sonata's trim levels. GLS replaces the previous GL moniker and Limited takes the place of LX. Hyundai has also introduced a new sporty SE trim. Later in the model year, a tire-pressure monitor and XM radio become standard across the line.

Pros:
  • Upscale look and feel, refined performance with V6, smooth ride, roomy cabin, standard stability control, attractive value and warranty coverage.
Cons:
  • Steering somewhat vague, automatic transmissions are fussy in manual-shift mode, heated seats on the weak side.

  • Now I am concerned! - 2007 Hyundai Sonata

I purchased the Sonata on May 28th of this year. I was ecstatic about the value and what I got for the money! I have owned an Accent in the past, and LOVED it until I was rear-ended and it was totaled. My daughter also owned an Accent. I dont put much mileage on the car as I am disabled. I just recently hit the 1,000 mile mark (since May!) This car is wonderful! I couldnt have made a better choice. I will, however, have the rear brakes checked tomorrow when I take the baby in for routine maintenance. BOTTOM LINE: Great Car!

Sonata is THE Best car even-though I used to have Mercedes and Lexus.

I brought my Sonata brand new. I have 105,000 miles. I travel a lot between NC, VA, and MD. I have the basic model and I love my car Ive only had one problem and that was the rear brakes. I have been rear ended twice at the red light and my car is great on safety. I plan to buy the 2011 as soon as I can. I also get 30 plus miles to the gallon.and for the people complaining about the tires try BF Goodrich advantages they are just as great as the Michelins. (made by Michelin I think)

  • Love My Sonata Named Rubi - 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Love my car. Very nice for the money. College student and I needed something larger to haul more people in comfort plus I needed something bigger inside as I am 66". I got 27 mpg in my Honda around town always, best I get in my Sonata is 24 and I cant even touch the gas. 22 is normal, yet okay for this large of a car. Power is good but could stand another gear as sometimes it can be lacking and the difference between 2 and 3 is too great. Cruise could stand improvement too. 78 mph highway and I also only got 28 mpg. The car seems to like premium. Im in love and very happy even though I just complained. The warning sounds in the car are super annoying, hence Rubi, my female named car. :)

Great handling and performance, big trunk, $6k less than Honda or Camry, have 40k miles, tires to be replaced soon, brake pads good for another 10k, seats leather good quality, mileage 20 in town 30 highway fast driving engine computer/02sensors/mixture control have problems-carry obdii reader to reset engine codes, best car in 60 yrs.

  • No problems - 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Like very much, very reliable so far. Cheap to maintain at independent garage [former Hyundai dealership mechanics run garage]. Have only done oil changes, and recommended Hyundai maintenance. Much better car than a Camry.

  • Great car, poor paint. - 2007 Hyundai Sonata
    By -

I bought this car new and have been thrilled with it. Its very reliable, quiet and roomy. Its just a bonus that its cheaper than the competition. After two and a half years though a little problem has come up- the paint is peeling off in sheets! Since it now has over 36000 miles there is no more paint warranty so Im pretty much stuck. It will be a great rolling ad to poor paint adhesion on a Hyundai. This may not be true of other colors or ages, but it sure is on my silver-blue Sonata. If I was Hyundai I sure would want to get these fixed before someone saw it, but thats not the case.

  • Watch the rear brakes - 2007 Hyundai Sonata

Except for the rear brakes wearing out long before the front ones I dont have any negative thing to say. This issue alone will keep me from buying another Hyundai though. They were not very truthful with the info about the rear brakes. They acted like I was the only one. After reading all these posts it seems like a common flaw.

Overall decent car, gas mileage isnt what was advertised 25-30, have consistently gottn 23-24 mostly highway. Issues with the transmission shift from day 1, dealer said its normal. Tires held up real nice, 65,000 miles. Sound proofing and suspension could use some work. Hear road noises and noise from the sun roof. Brakes dont hold up well either.

  • Comfortable and fun - 2007 Hyundai Sonata

I have owned the Sonata for 2-1/2 years and I enjoy. The only thing I wished for is better MPG with the V6. No issues at all, I am at 32,000 miles still have original tires and brakes. This is the largest Mid-Size sedan I have ever owned or been in.
