  • Just what the wallet ordered - 2005 Hyundai Elantra

Shopped Civic, Corolla, Focus and all others but none could give a total package vehicle. They might be equal or slightly better in one area but none could deliver everything and a great price, except Hyundai. Elantra was the only one that had ABS, traction control, gas mileage, leather, cruise, sunroof, hatchback, 6 speakers, side airbags, automatic, HUGE warranty, and best price ... $14,500 paid. Im getting 30 miles to the gallon (highway driving) and the engine isnt even broken in yet. Im 61" and the car has plenty of room for my legs. The storage space with the hatchback is good. Overall, I got more for my money than I ever expected when I started shopping.

  • Good commuter car! - 2005 Hyundai Elantra

I bought my car new in October 2004. The only repair that it has needed was when my driver side window rubber folded over and the window didnt operated properly. That repair was covered under warranty. This car is economical, easy to park, and handles well. A plus is the leather is holding up. The moon roof slide and tilt are nice to use on a evening drive. I would recommend buying this car used because most 05s will still be under the manufacturers warranty.

Overall, I love my Elantra. At first I was skeptical of Hyundai, but I have been pleasantly surprised and impressed. It took me a while to get used to the brake feel- no feedback, feel was not progressive, so they were difficult to modulate. This was just a matter of getting used to the car, the brake feel is not a continuing issue.

Pretty good ecomony car, but DO NOT buy a standard! Clutch failed and is not covered under the bumpper to bumper warrenty. Cost to fix - around $1,000.

  • Move over Civic and Corolla - 2005 Hyundai Elantra

I have had this car about a week and love it for a compact. It has more drivers legroom, rides better, has more power, steers better, and just overall is a nicer car than my 99 Civic was. Top it off with a much better warranty than Honda or Toyota offer and for thousands less.

I compared & test drove many many vehicles including the Kia Spectra before purchasing the Elantra. For a communter car, the overall quality, reliability and pricing made this a no brainer. The only complaint I have is the gas mileage during local/city driving. I get great mileage on the highway but the city/local mileage seems to suffer severely. But I guess I should not complain too much because the gas mileage is way better than my Chevy Suburban. I did not get the $300 CD Player option, instead purchased an Alpine/Kenwood system & installed it myself for the same price. Overall I think this is an excellent value when everything is factored in.

  • What a gas - 2005 Hyundai Elantra

I have had my Elantra for 11,000 miles and are very pleased with performance. Especially fuel. Dont understand some other complaints on Edmunds about gas mileage as I get 36-37 on the open road. Went to Vermont and did almost 500 miles and still had just under 1/4 tank left. I have had trouble with rotor noise that the dealer fixed but now its back.

  • Car on the budget that do what you need - 2005 Hyundai Elantra

I had a Kia Sorento EX 2005 and trade it for this little gas saver. I bought the Elantra with 24000 miles on it and now I had put 44000 miles on it without a problem. I had the car for 1 year and still going strong. I was driving 37 miles one way to work and I wasn’t going to deal with the Kia Sorento’s gas usage. So, I started looking for a compact car to save gas money. I started looking at Honda, Toyota and other import brand. After my research I decided to buy the Elantra due to price. I like the car so far, no problem what so ever. It has enough horse power to do what I need and the gas usage is great. I get 26-27 city and 30-33 freeway and mine is a automatic GLS.

  • I Like My New Elantra GT - 2005 Hyundai Elantra

Just got this vehicle. I really like it so far. It works great to haul the kids around in and looks sporty. I wish the MP3 player was still standard - I had to buy my own at $200. So far so good and the warranty is a great piece of mind.
