One of the nicest compacts out there. Rides better and has more room and pep than my Civic had. But my 3 negatives are: (1)Squeaks developed going slowly over speed bumps after 8 mos. (2)I have yet to get over 20 mpg and I drive slowly and do not accelerate suddenly. I do drive solely in town however. (3)The rear window fogs when its rainy and humid unless the AC is full blast.

After many , many cars, domestic and abroad, I can tell you only this- FANTASTIC C A R ! Floating feeling, as plain, not ordinary car. BRAVO for Hyundai.

When I first saw the car on the showroom floor I knew that was what I wanted. A 5 door vehicle. I love the hatchback. Once you unlock your doors all you have to do is raise the back. Its great not to have to look for the key. Lots of room. Great on the highway.

This car purchase is the meeting point of lowest cost for the highest number of desired features, relatively good gas mileage for reasonable cabin/trunk space, and operational reliability. I plan to drive this vehicle for the next 10 years, so the Hyundai warranty was a very strong selling feature. Didnt pay the extra $800 for two features I wanted (AT and cruise) but I havent been sorry. The car drives well thru all conditions including snow/ice, tho an 8 hr road trip is about as much as I want in it. It does have the highway floaty feel to it. For mostly about town transportation, Im quite satisifed w/ it, tho I will be acquiring after market cruise control (for less than $800!).

  • Outstanding Value - GET ONE ! - 2005 Hyundai Elantra

Ive just bought my first Hyundai, an Elantra GT Sedan with full package and Im thrilled with it. Had never even considered one until a week ago, but the facts and the feel all added up to one obvious decision - I had to buy one. FACTS: Theres NOTHING thats cheaper anywhere in the market in new cars. Ive compared all the majors. With the special $1,750 rebate, it was a must-have! Theres more standard on these cars than any other make and no better warranty anywhere! Period. FEEL: Plenty of power from a 2.0 liter motor if youre OK with a manual tranny. Very solid ride (GT only) - handles turns and bumps with ease and safety.

  • an unexpected surprise - 2005 Hyundai Elantra

I have owned my car for a mouth and I can say that it is very easy to drive. It doesnt matter if its snow, ice, rain covered roads - this thing can do it. I really looked this car over and was surprised by how much is done to it. I could not find any flaws in the paint or any rust on the suspension or exhaust. I live on a 5 lane highway with a 55mph limit This car can get me up to speed right out of my driveway pretty good. Im happy it has an independant rear suspension (Honda didnt). The seats leave a little to be desired but If they were too comfortable youd fall asleep at the wheel. Excellent buy!

  • Buyer Beware - 2005 Hyundai Elantra

i owned a 2005 elantra and it caught fire after 4 months 4000 miles. it was determined by the columbus fire department to be a defect in the car and then later determined by nationwides fire specialist to also be a manufactures defect. the dealership and hyundai in fountain valley california have done nothing to resolve the loss of my vehicle. hyundai motor finance company through which i financed is still making me pay for a car that obviously is unreliable and a lemon. buyer beware and check out NHSTA.com.

I bought this car to replace a much beloved Mazda Protege 5 which was totalled in an accident. The Hyundai is more comfortable at the expense of handling, but I am very pleased. Initial fuel economy wasnt so great, but is improving with each tank. I am impressed with how quiet it is once speed has been reached. The cargo area is quite spacious and the seats are almost as comfortable as Volvos Ive ridden in. Fit & finish are top notch and I found material quality better than the Honda Civic that I looked at. Feels like a more expensive car than it really is.

I absolutely like my Hyundai Elantra hatchback I brought 3 month ago. The only problems I had is the brakes making noise in wet weather. It rides like a dream and the gas mileage is great Im getting 36 mile per gal. Im been a Honda person for years. The Elantra holes the road like a dream and handle get in the snow cover roads.

Initial quality was better than expected. Only disappointment was FM tuner did not work. I like the GTs leather interior and ride. I didnt like the Black Bodyside molding. Its a pain to hand wax around it.
