  • ONE MAJOR FLAW: SEAT COMFORT - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

First: Mankato Honda was great to work with. Seat comfort is a serious problem. Never had a problem with my Civic or Accord on any length trip. Pilot is a totally different story. Lower back pain develops after about 20 minutes. I took my family on a 2 hour trip. I had said nothing about my discomfort to my kids because they were so excited about the new Pilot. My 13 year old got out, arched his back, and said to his brother, "My back is killing me."

  • Pilot is predictablily reliable - 2003 Honda Pilot

After one year ownership no problems at all. Not even minor. Safe, rides great, plenty of power and room for kids, parents and grandparents.

  • Awesome - 2003 Honda Pilot

Love it! This is honestly the first vehicle that both my wife and I can agree upon! She likes it so much she wants me to get her one when my other car comes off its lease. Imagine that, matching his and her Pilots! Anyways I would highly recommend this vehicle.

  • Best SUV - 2003 Honda Pilot

This is our third SUV (4Runner, Explorer) and hands down the best all around. Rides like a car, Seats eight and goes through six inches of snow like nothing else.

I own both 2003 Pilot and MDX. While Pilot is bulkier in size and handling it is also a softer ride and has superior ergodynamics. MPG is a bit disappointing especially when your loaded up on those ski trips but it has plenty of get up and go. Ive had tough time selling mine and trade in is tough with dealers(I was given MDX as part of new job).

  • Excellent SUV - 2003 Honda Pilot

We bought this vehicle last November and we absolutely love it. We drove north to Mont Tremblant in Canada from MA in February (pulling along our snowmobiles) and the ride was great. My brother had recently bought a Yukon and was sorry that he hadnt tried the Pilot first. We have had absolutely no issues with this vehicle to date (15k miles). The ride is just as smooth as the other Hondas I have owned. Our Pilot was imported from Canada so it has heated seats which is a big plus. Definitely worth the money (I only paid a few hundred dollars over invoice).

  • Happy Honda motoring - 2003 Honda Pilot

Overall, we are very happy with our purchase. A couple of things that I have noticed, as have other Pilot owners, are that the leather on the seats tends to get unattractive wrinkles in it quite easily and the paint seems to scratch/chip quite easily. The Pilot is a solid vehicle which provides the room and seating capacity of a van and the versatility of 4WD. On a trip to Colorado right after our purchase, the DVD entertainment system was worth its weight in gold with our two young children riding in the back. We averaged in the low 20s for mileage.

  • Good Truck - 2003 Honda Pilot

Just got the thing this morning. Drove 150 miles with it today. I have the white with leather trim and a DVD; the dealer also added mud flaps and cargo mat and crossbars on the overhead rack. Was marked up at the dealer 800 over MSRP but worth it. Its a great vehicle. The seats arent as comfortable as the american cars we considered (Bravada) and the dash has too much plastic and no wood which is odd for a $35,000 SUV. But that being said its very sold; very good looking; very . . . Honda (which is to say good)

  • happy transition - 2003 Honda Pilot

Have recently left BMW (3 series) and am satisfied with the performance, comfort and handling. actually considering the type of vehicle, Im impressed. Toyota was my #2 choice, 3rd row seating and Honda performance tipped the scale.

  • Great, but need improvement - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

I am not an owner yet, but did some research on the Pilot. Good value for the money in its class, but need improvements. We need a bigger vehicle for our baby, and home improvement project for our new house. Maybe, we wait another year to see if Honda improves the Pilots. In my opinion, Hondas been playing game with demands vs. supplies. Honda makes profit at least $3000 per high demand vehicle (Odyssey, Pilot, MDX, 3.2 TL) not fair for customers. My 99 Accord has oil leak from transmission at 50K mile. This is NOT typical for a Honda. Should I buy a Honda again? I know Honda and Toyota have very good resale values.
