This Year's Model Updates:

The Odyssey gains an intermittent rear window wiper this year, as well as an auto up-and-down driver-side window.

Pros:
  • Excellent crash test scores, huge interior, fold-flat third-row seat, powerful V6, optional navigation and entertainment system.
Cons:
  • Quality of some interior materials could be better, high demand limits negotiating possibilities.

  • disappointing - 2003 Honda Odyssey

This is the worst vehicle I have ever purchased. In one year we have needed to replace the altenator, have the sliding doors adjusted twice (and still not right)and replace the pilling interior fabric (which Honda has not yet done). Based on the perfomrance of this car and the manufacturer, I will not buy another Honda again.

Have had for approx 6,000 miles with no major probs. Front passenger speaker went bad and black plactic piece that fits across lower part of outside front window was coming off. Previous owner of 94 Dodge Grand Caravan LX. Will never go back after this Honda.

  • Good value. But not for the price. - 2003 Honda Odyssey

The van is nice and reliable. I have no problems to talk about. Only two minor issues to report, like occational flashing dashboard lights, and tickleing left strut mount wich I hope to resolve on my next service visit. The only thing I cant forguive Honda is for cutting the wrong corners. Like lighted door switches and garage door opener. Trying to find those swiches and buttons at night is a real challenge.

  • Great van for its price. - 2003 Honda Odyssey

Great van to haul a bunch of people and plenty of power to do it with. The interior could have function better if it has more useful items such as a storage console instead of a tray, external thermostat, compass, etc. The power outlet in the front is too low to access while driving.

  • Disappointed - 2003 Honda Odyssey

We have owned a number of honda cars over the years (even have a honda lawnmower)but the Odyssey has been a disappointment. At first it was wonderful, a dream to drive and ride in. But problems have developed. Ours has problems with the autodoor buzzer going off when we make a tight turn. The engine is not running well, it "chuggs" at about 1500 RPM, and it is out of alingment already. On top of that a freind who recommended it to us has a 2000 model with 50000+ miles and the transmission is going. This could be a great vehicle, but these problems keep us from enjoying it.

  • A great Van -- but Definitely Overrated - 2003 Honda Odyssey

The Odyssey is a great van. It is fun to drive, and it has great handling. I can move and pass real easy in this minivan. My son absolutely loves it, and is convinced that his mom has by far the best car in school. On the downside, Im greatly disappointed with how many times Ive already had to take this van to the dealership for minute, annoying things, like; echo in the speaker, exhorbitant exhaust coming from the tailpipe; noise in motor on the auto seat; unusual vibration in the engine; a loose hose which caused leakage of transmission fluid. More attention to detail is needed. It should not be in the shop every other month!

  • Good but problematic - 2003 Honda Odyssey

Although the Odyssey features a comfortable ride, secure and carlike handling, excellent brakes, quiet interior and a spacious and airy cabin, it gets overtaken by its low-rent feel, uncomfortable seats (at least mine are), and its problems that happen within a month. My A/C and sliding doors are already in need of repair.

  • Too many squeaks and creaks!!! - 2003 Honda Odyssey
    By -

We bought this Odyssey with the hopes of returning to a Japanese made car and limiting trips to the service dept. for oil changes- WRONG! We are taking our van in for the 3rd time today. Weve owned this van for 3 months- this is crazy. The front seat belts squeak and it is loud and VERY annoying. Honda replaced them- but they are squeaking again. We also have a creaking problem in the front suspension. It supposedly was fixed- but now its creaking again. This is such a huge pain and inconvenience. Its a pain to take the car seat out- be without a car, etc...

I got rid of my 4Runner, due to a baby we had and wanted a nice ride, but I was not willing to buy a van. We took a trip to Nashville from Atlanta, and I fell in love with the Odyssey. The next wee I went and got one. This is not your typical mothers van. This baby can move and hadle like a coupe. It has plenty of juice and the features are execelent. Yes, my friends do make fun of me because I am only 26, but then again, this the our choice of transportation for trips out of town. You can go 95 and not know it, it is soooo smooth.

  • Great Minivan....but, needs better MPG - 2003 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I surpised my wife with the EX-L w/ DVD for our 6th anniversary. She loves it. Its fun to drive, great acceleration, roomy, fits in my garage, and the kids are SILENT when the DVD is playing in the back. We love it! One suggestion...the city mpg is horrible. I wouldnt think shed have to fill the tank once a week, but she does.
