Cons:
  • Quality of some interior materials could be better, high demand limits negotiating possibilities.

Purchased a 2003 Honda Odyssey in Fall 2002. I started having trouble with it after 100,000 miles. All maintenance were kept up. Transmission was the major problem. I had to replace it twice within 1 month (had to pay about $1500, while Honda covered the rest). Then a year later I was told the transmission was leaking. Shift Solenoids A and B Gaskets had to be replaced, luckily it was still under warranty. Now Jan 2011, I found out my transmission has a leak again with other major issues. Im told the cost of repair is not worth it. The car is almost 180,000mile. Extremely disappointed that it could not make it to 200,000miles.Told it should last well over 200,000.Will not buy Honda again!

I wonder what the new 2011 Honda Odyssey looks like. But couldnt wait until the fall. My kid needs to go vacation in the summer and the 2003 Honda Odyssey I have had way too old. Got broken transmission @ 120,000 miles. Now leaking steering wheel oil, just fixed it. Too much wind noise and road noise when driving a Honda car. I already looked at the 2011 Toyota Sienna and love it so much, quiet drive and interior room is awesome. Will go with the Toyota Minivan then 2011 Sienna.

Maybe Im just not a minivan person, but I hated this vehicle. Where were the memory seats, what about the wind noise, gas mileage bit it and for the amount of money we spent, they couldve made the interior design more appealing and less plastic. The automatic door openers were too sensitive, but if you turned them off, the doors were too heavy to open or shut. We sold it and got the Volvo Suv and I feel like Im in heaven now.

Buy new,in shop by 1200 In 18 days as we drove rental waiting for“Honda Tech” from CA.Trans slips/bucks & "Thrumming" noise from drive train while at a steady 45-55 while tach is jumping from 0to3.Gear shift wont go in D3.When accel. from stop engine revs, then it “catches”& shoots out.VERY dangerous when entering road/trying to pass.Wndshld, rearview & drivers side mirror replaced due to huge distortions.New-NO BETTER Dealer says,We drove it, no problem. You must come drive w/us to prove it.WE DID Now they say,we admit there’s a problem, but we dont know whats causing it,we cant fix it Heres your car back! Inside seating design is awkward & uncomfy.

  • The worst HONDA on the market - 2003 Honda Odyssey

When buying this vehicle, my family and I expected excellent service like our Accord gave us. Instead of which this car just kept breaking down and was in constant need of repairs. The sliding doors kept breaking no matter how many times they were fixed. The radio had to be replaced since it scratched Cds, and the windows dont close properly. I wish Edmunds would stop picking on Chryslers minivan (what I shouldve bought) and its reliability, which is fine, and start on Hondas, which is HORRIBLE. I also find it funny that the Editors Rating is lower on the Honda than the Chrysler, as this is the only thing Edmunds did right.

  • Dodge/Chrysler is certainly better - 2003 Honda Odyssey

I personally didnt like this vehicle one bit. My wife liked it when we bought it but it has proven to be the worst vehicle that we have bought. We paid a fair bit of money for it, and DESPITE what edmunds says, it LACKS FEATURES. The Sound system (although we got the highest available) is among the worst I have ever seen in a car. The stock sound system in a Caravan is better, let alone the available Infinity system in Caravans. The transmission has gone twice on this vehicle. Both sliding doors have broken, and they are slow beyond belief. There is no easy way for a passenger to bypass the power feature. Look into a Dodge or Chrysler instead.

  • Honda Quality? - 2003 Honda Odyssey

Honda simply does not live upon its reputaion for this van. Just list problems we have: 1)Replaced both front struts(1st month)2)A/C broken after 3 months3)Replaced clock light4)Idle control valve(idle speed up/down automatically)5)Rear break squeaks but Honda says it is normal 6)Transmission failed at 15k. Having own few Toyotas, wanted to try Honda. What a disappointment!

  • unreliable, overpriced heap - 2003 Honda Odyssey

This will be my 2nd 2003 odyssey. The 1st had problems starting, the 2nd within 6 months the air conditioning went out now theres a problem with the electrical system, the "dinger" doesnt always ding when the key is in and the door is open and the interior lights click on and off as if there is a short. Honda is awful in "taking care" of their customers, they have a buyers beware attitude, once you sign the line its your problem, so what if you are paying for a vehicle that is in the shop more than it is on the road.
