Know what you are buying! This model has many positive features such as roomy, comfy, functional interior, good gas mileage compared to SUVs, and sufficient power to keep most everyone satisfied. However, it also has high incident rates for transmission failure, rear brakes noises, interior noise and various electrical issues with clocks and lights. Every vehicle has its weaknesses and this one is no exception. Some may get lucky and avoid any major problems. We have not been so lucky and have spent more than $7,000 on maintenance and repairs in the 18 months we have owned it. Dont assume the Honda nameplate means anything. You may get a quality vehicle, or you may end up with a lemon.

  • Quality Ride - 2003 Honda Odyssey

It is great to have a quality vehicle in our family. Before purchasing our Odessy, we were riding in a four door Ford Explorer. On long trips it was difficult for my wife to get to our 4 months old twins when they were crying. Now that we have our van it is easier to walk between the seat to care for our children. We do not even have to get out the vehicle. The Odessy is a vehicle that can grow with our family for a long while.

  • A Crash Survivor - 2003 Honda Odyssey

Just wanted to let everyone know that the 5 point Crash Rating is absolutely correct. I had an accident in my Odyssey last week and walked away from the crash even though my van was totaled. Unfortunately, the person in the other vehicle was not so lucky. My husband is an auto body repairman and he agrees that he doesnt see autos in the condition mine was in and hear that the person survived. I have nothing but good to say about my Odyssey. I will be shopping around for a new one as soon as the accident is settled. I had my van for 14 months when the accident happened, and havent had any problems with it.

Two Children. Two Car Seats. Plenty of room for strollers, beach items, coolers, *and* two more adults.

  • Good fast box - 2003 Honda Odyssey

If you want an easy to handle, well built, relatively economical box to drive, the Honda Odyssey is it. Have owned for 4 years, taken many long trips (over 2000 miles each) and have performed only normal maintenance (tires, oil, battery). It is definitely fast enough to get out of its own way and is at ease on the highway or in the city.

We bought our Odyssey new in June and in regular summer driving it has reasonable acceleration and handling. Great cargo capacity. We haven’t had any problems with the vehicle and can find no fault with the design except for the dashboard heater control placement and the poor seats.

  • I bought ANOTHER Odyssey - 2003 Honda Odyssey

I originally bought a new 2000 Odyssey after being extremely frustrated with the bad reliability of domestic minivans. Not only is the Honda van bigger more reliable, and more powerful than the others, but it is extremely competitively priced for the features it has.I traded in my 2000 Odyssey for a 2003, and in 75000 miles, I never had to do anything but change the oil and put on a new set of tires. If all of the Hondas are this way, I will never buy anything else.

RIDE IS GREAT. GAS MILEAGE IS AVERAGE. SAME AS THE 1992 VOYAGER I OWNED. INTERIOR QC COULD BE BETTER.

  • Buyer Beware - 2003 Honda Odyssey
    By -

Purchased new and vehicle was fine until it got to 45,000. Transmission seals failed ($900). Dealer said out of warranty so you pay. Trannys first scheduled service was 45,000. Dash board lights started to fail at 50,000. Now at 75,000 tranny is dead and must be replaced ($5,500). 34 years of car ownsership and never owned anything nearly this bad. Just glad my 12-year old Ford with 210,000 miles on it is reliable.

  • Great Minivan - 2003 Honda Odyssey

I love this minivan. We were looking into the Ford Windstar as well. Both have great features, but the Odyssey has some extras and great resale value. If listing pros and cons, the Odyssey definitely wins.
