Overview & Reviews
Honda has completely redesigned the Civic for 2006. Highlights include a more powerful and fuel-efficient 1.8-liter engine, new exterior styling, an advanced interior design and more premium features. The company has also improved the gas-electric IMA system for the Civic Hybrid and restored the Civic Si trim's potency with a 197-horsepower engine and a sportier coupe body style. Midway through the year, Honda will also introduce a new "GX" trim level that runs on natural gas.
- Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, lots of standard safety equipment, roomy and refined interior, special Hybrid, GX and Si models.
- Polarizing dash design, top-of-the-line models are pricey.

Honda Civic - 2006 Honda Civic
By Tom - May 7 - 4:13 amI have the vehicle for a week now and I am having a lot of fun with it. I got 31 mpg so far with city driving with the a/c on. Fit and finish is good but no better than any other car out there. I dont feel that the fit and finish is up to Honda standards. I got the EX coupe with dealer installed mud flaps, all season rubber mats and trunk mat and interior lighting package which has a bunch of blue LED lights under the dash. It is quite a light show at night.

Cheap Interior Plastic - 2006 Honda Civic
By sbs - January 14 - 6:53 pmIve had my car five months and already the inside looks like its been 15. Ive never seen plastic that scratched and got marked up so easily. Just a fingernail or accidentally brushing the seat belt buckle across it, mars it. Take a look at the plastic in your cars. Also, my paint on the outside is scratching and chipping like nothing Ive ever experienced before. Buyer beware! I love my car and it really angers/saddens me, but am already looking to try and trade it out. The harder I try not to touch anything on the interior, the worse it gets. Plus, I shouldnt have to be driving on egg shells. What happened to Honda quality?

Mice - 2006 Honda Civic
By nosarb - January 9 - 4:50 amThis is a great car except for the mice/mouse nests. Dealer would not put screen over air input area. Mice are sure to re-enter as they have before. Dealer called mice material hazardous material. I guess its o.k. for me to breathe the air from the mice nests, feces, etc. Come on Honda, get er done.

The Si isnt as good as I expected. - 2006 Honda Civic
By amchev - January 2 - 4:03 amWhen I bought the car I loved it. It was much better than the 1991 Si it replaced. Sadly my Si was plagued by many rattles and the dealer never could seem to duplicate them. Rattles seem to be a common problem with the 06 Civics. The car handles great, and makes good power from 6 - 8k. You have to work the 6 speed transmission when youre in traffic to keep the car in its power band. The 7 speaker stereo is the best Ive seen in a stock car. The Si is a good compromise between performance and economy.

Almost All Good Feelings - 2006 Honda Civic
By mielejd - October 11 - 1:00 amI.m writing this with about 500 miles on it. Feels solid, well built, yet nimble enough for point-and-shoot driving. You dont drive this car, you wear it. It fits very well! Love the intelligent automatic that holds a higher gear when running downhill. Engine and trans are well-mated. Shifts are seamless and go unoticed. Even when revving hard, motor doesnt sound strained. All-wheel disc brakes work very well, but are difficult to modulate. They bite hard with the slightest touch. Knobs and buttons well located, easy to use with a rich feel. Im 510", 170lbs and I can sit comfortably and well-positioned relative to steering, pedals, and other controls. My teenager and I love this car!

Very Good car for less money - 2006 Honda Civic
By Shouvik - October 9 - 7:36 amBought 2006 Honda Civic EX, 4dr, Auto on 11/10/2005. It has very futuristic interior and a very gorgeous aerodynamic body. It definitely stands out in the traffic. However, 2006 Toyota Corolla has optional vehicle stability control and traction control features.I also compared it with 2006 Mazda 3 and civic has less hp than 2.3 LT Mazda 3.Ride is bumpier than Chevy Cobalt or Toyota Camry. Remote Keyless entry system started malfunctioning within 2/3 Weeks. Dealer lubed the locks but the problem again surfaced today -Am I unfortunate or a genuine problem ?!

Little bugs and small problems - 2006 Honda Civic
By Jon M - October 3 - 12:16 pmThis is a great car,i really like the two tier dash design of both digital and analog readouts. I had this car since November 2005. I replaced the SRS side airbag passenger side indicator, there are some slight rattles,i needed a new glovebox side airbag covers on the seats started to pop out/off. The Drive by wire throttle system really hinders drivability its like BMWs idrive system it makes the car jerk around. These problems are expected to be on a first model year car,it happens and i know now not to buy another first year model car only after its been released for 8 months to a year so the manufacturer can address the problems and fix them.
