This Year's Model Updates:

Honda has completely redesigned the Civic for 2006. Highlights include a more powerful and fuel-efficient 1.8-liter engine, new exterior styling, an advanced interior design and more premium features. The company has also improved the gas-electric IMA system for the Civic Hybrid and restored the Civic Si trim's potency with a 197-horsepower engine and a sportier coupe body style. Midway through the year, Honda will also introduce a new "GX" trim level that runs on natural gas.

Pros:
  • Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, lots of standard safety equipment, roomy and refined interior, special Hybrid, GX and Si models.
Cons:
  • Polarizing dash design, top-of-the-line models are pricey.

  • I got stuck with a dawg! - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

This is a sad story! My heart is broken. Having just turned 50 without the resources to buy an Aston Martin, I traded in my ’02 Civic Sedan for a ’06 Coupe LX. It was love at first sight but destined for disaster. Within 2 weeks the airbag sensor failed. They fixed it. About the same time I started to experience a vibration from the front end. They diagnosed this as a torque converter problem that currently has no fix. And there’s more! The car is currently in the shop undergoing major surgery to repair an oil leak. All of this with less than 7000 miles. Apart from all that, this is a really fun car to drive and I only wish that Honda’s customer support were a little more responsive.

  • Dont believe the MPG - 2006 Honda Civic

This is a fun car to drive and folks on the street are always asking about the car. However after a handful of fillups, the best weve done is 35.5 mpg on a combination of city and highway driving. Everything else about the car is great. It drive very nice and has a bigger car drive.

  • Great car, but . . . - 2006 Honda Civic

This car fits me like a glove. Its easy to handle, and is very responsive. Visibility is good for me because of its size. Im a woman and although my husband and I have an 03 Honda Accord, which I love, I found the visibility poor for me and it was just too big for me to handle. The Civic is the perfect size for me. Theres only one thing I find not to my liking: On a sunny day, theres a distracting reflection and glare on the windshield from the dashboard, maybe because the interior is a light color (ivory). I have the same problem on the back window. I wish I had been able to pick a different (darker) color for the interior, but I had no idea the light color would be a problem.

  • Just OK - 2006 Honda Civic

The car serves its purpose. A good mileage commuter, and just that only! Lackluster power with A/C on and four on board. You really have to worry about passing on two lane roads. Seats seem hard, even after short trips. 5 speed auto just shifts and shifts and shifts even on /mild/moderate inclines! Blind spots because of weird A pillar and C pillars. Rear shelf rattles. Dash rattles

  • 06 civic Si - 2006 Honda Civic

Over all Im very satisfied with my purchase. Performance, fuel, economy and looks are all up to par on this car. I sold my 04 RSX type S for this and i believe it was a good choice.

  • 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid - 2006 Honda Civic

First honda. Very pleased with design and interior, excellent futuristic looks. Interior nice but coming from an Audi A6 nothing special. MPG not high as expected. Avg is 36.2 perhaps its colder weather and New Engand hills and I have yet to see my car run totally electric while under 35mph. Nicks already in body because I cant see rear end or hood. I enjoy driving this car but I miss a powerful engine, Cant say Ill be driving another honda car after this.

  • Windshield doesnt clear snow well - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Bought the car new. Overall, very happy with it, however in snowy conditions the snow doesnt clear well because its recessed about 1" for some reason and the wipers wipe to the outside edges of the windshield. Have also suffered rock chips in the paint in unusual places (i.e., near the gas door, on the edge of the door near the left rear window, on the roof) places that cant be blamed on other peoples doors in the parking lot. Honda dealer says "oh well, too bad". Initially wanted the Si, but was commuting then, and needed economy, the 140 hp in the EX is very impressive, and I have no complaints about it.

  • My first Honda - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

This is my first Honda. I had a 1997 jeep Wrangler for 9 years before this car. So you can see that I plan to keep my cars for a long period of time. When I was impressed when I first layed eyes on the civic. The style is sharp. It has a kind of sports car but with nice comfort. The five-speed is quick the way I like it. And the EX offers a looong list of standard equipment including a sun-roof and 350 watt stero. My family cannot believe I only paid $17200 for this car. The only extra the car does not come with is the navigation system. But I already know where I am going. I have had the car for 2900 miles and I love it. For the money, I would truly recommend this car.

  • Excellent economy - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

We are typically getting 48 mpg during the summer, with air conditioning on, and about 45 in the winter in Rochester NY. On top of that, while not peppy, the car can work into traffic without fear, and weve used it on vacation with two other people and luggage in the car. My only complaint is when it drops gear while climbing hills on cruise and revs too high. Built very solid, best door thud of any car weve owned, and has been no trouble at all, aside from one recall notice, covered while in for an oil change. Also, oil is changed by indicator, not by miles, which for us is about 10 months. Shopping now for another Civic, a coupe this time.

  • Great Car - EXCEPT. - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Ive had this car for almost two years and I still love it except for ONE thing. At 25,000 miles I had to replace all four tires (Bridestone Tourenza) because of flat spots, cupping and feathering. Bridgestone basically said "tough luck" and Honda said that its obviously a tire problem. In researching this situation I am not alone with this problem. It IS the cars fault due to some faulty struts and suspension components (mostly at the rear). Now I have 4 premium Michelins and, believe me, Im keeping a close eye on them for irregular wear. Other than that, this is a great car to drive and is fantastic on gas! I always get 38-40 mpg on the highway, even at 75 mph with the AC on! Nice!
