I bought this truck because I needed a long bed truck that would offer good fuel economy. After driving an F150 for a few years and paying too much for gasoline, I found the opportunity to purchase this automobile. My gas mileage, mostly highway, stays around 28 mpg. This is summer driving with the a/c running in Texas. I drive highway speed of about 68 mph and sometimes I leave the tailgate down. The truck offers plenty of room for carrying my loads, and Im pleased with the overall performance. I bought because I needed the 7 foot bed. No other economy truck has a 7 length. The dealership had to travel 450 miles to pick up the truck, and I paid, walk out the door, $14K.

I wanted a plain truck that was good on gas with a lot of aftermarket parts available. The 2006 Ford Ranger with the 3.0 Vulcan V6 has been perfect. This truck was very affordable so with the money saved I was able to upgrade it to my specs. It is fun to drive and is very reliable.

  • Great truck - almost 30mpg a BLAST! - 2006 Ford Ranger

With rebates this $19k truck came in around $15k. I worked with the dealer to find a SuperCab - 2WD - 4cylinder automatic. I dont plan to haul a lot but like the capability, and the ability to tow things. The acceleration on this truck is really good, never had too little power. With only 1,900 miles so far, I am getting 27mpg in a mix of highway and city driving and every tank shows a 2mpg improvement. I love this truck.

  • FX4 level II - 2006 Ford Ranger

I purchased my 2006 FX4 II about a week ago. I have never been ashamed of myself for doing so. I have a five-speed manual and the 6-cd MP3 system. It goes right up to speed, runs around 2500rpm at 75, and has one heck of a sound system.

Love the truck overall, exterior design is great looking, like the interior, nice horsepower and torque for the little hauling I do. Get about 17 mpg in town never tested it on HWY but Im guessing its about 20-22 mpg. My uncle claims he gets 24 mpg with the 4.0 but I dont believe it.

I have had my Ranger for about a month now. And so far it is one tough little truck. The highway mileage is about 22-23 mpg. In town only about 15. The a/c will make my ears go numb. The 4.0 has more than enough power for my needs. This truck is a keeper. It is still too new to judge it completely though.

  • Gas mileage Isnt Close To The EPA Rating - 2006 Ford Ranger

Ive found our truck to be a fun and nice looking vehicle. The interior is spacious and all gauges/controls are well within reach. Im very happy with the styling and performance of the truck. The only real drawback is the 14-15 MPG which Ive experienced. Im getting this MPG on the interstate with the cruise on!

  • FX4 Ranger more capable then Hummer H3 - 2006 Ford Ranger
    By -

Awesome Truck! Easily competes with Jeep Rubicon, Hummer H3, Toyota Pre-runner 4x4. Very compact but full size room inside, Jump seats are too small, though leg room is plenty. Very low weight per horsepower/torque. Fast acceleration. Decent tow capacity with Class 3 tow package. Stereo is good for factory (Pioneer 6 CD mp3).

I bought it for towing, off roading sometimes both at the same time. And I commute to work in it. It has performed flawlessly. Couldnt ask for a better truck, I would say its even with Toyota with quality and fit and finish, except the Ranger is still small enough to run on the narrow trails in the mountains, and its cheaper to purchase and operate.

  • FX4 Awesome to Drive - 2006 Ford Ranger

Ok so I traded in a VW Jetta and got this truck. Friends of mine were like what am I thinking, but when we took it off-roading for the first time everyone was impressed! A friend has a Nissan Frontier (2006) and I was able to get through stuff and his frame was scrapping. So much for that wider body on the Frontier. I love this truck and the price for what I got was unbelievable. All those people that complain about not having a crew cab, maybe you should consider a sedan cause trucks haul things not people.
