This Year's Model Updates:

With an all-new model scheduled for '05, there are few changes for the 2004 Ford Mustang. All models wear commemorative 40th anniversary exterior badging, while V6 and GT models can be ordered with a full 40th anniversary package that includes additional exterior and interior enhancements.

Pros:
  • Available V8 power, variety of trim levels, healthy dose of American attitude.
Cons:
  • Archaic underpinnings, cheap interior materials, choppy ride.

  • 40th Anniversary GT Convertible - 2004 Ford Mustang

I am a tall person and most of the convertibles that I was interested in would not fit me. In other works not enough leg room or head room. In some insances because the front seat would not properly adjust I cound not even get in to the vehicle. If you want a high performance vehicle that is comfortable this car offers that with excellent handling and powerful acceleration.

Big fan of the Ford SVT division. Traded in my 02 Lightning for 04 Cobra convertible. Many reasons, but last of the Dearborn Mustangs, IRS, massive HP, SVT break. Not disappointed. Did add Magnaflow cat backs, looking for Steve McQueen Bullitt Mustang sound. Close. Also, improves breathing to redline. Overall, lots of fun. Neighbors jealous. Hair not falling out as quickly.... I am anxiously awaiting the next round of offerings from the SVT group. GT is slightly out of budget, but love the prototype Lightning and look forward to seeing the magic they work on the new Mustang. Wish SVT had done the Marauder. Lots of potential wasted there.

I havent had this much fun driving since my 1973 Mach I. Still a new car, Im learning that I like it more each day. Much quicker than my 68 289 coupe, suspension is firm, though a little squirrely in the corners, but you can learn to adapt. Drivers seat puts my right leg to sleep on any drive longer than an hour. Great sound, both from the exhaust pipes or awesome sound system. I just look for reasons to drive this baby.

  • Not too bad - 2004 Ford Mustang

Nice looking and even a better price. Fun to drive...no doubt. Horsepower is ok but I would always like more. The only complaint is gas mileage. Not even close to what the window sticker says. Wouldnt mind the gas mileage i am getting if it had more power. Overall, a good inexpensive sports car.

  • Nice looking car for decent $ - 2004 Ford Mustang

Needed affordability and hopefully reliability for as little money as possible, while still having something attractive and fun to drive. The car looks great and is indeed fun to drive, and I got a killer deal! Could have probably gotten more features on a Mazda3 or even a Chevy Cavalier for the same money, but will certainly enjoy driving and owning a Mustang much more than either of those cars.

  • Not too bad at all - 2004 Ford Mustang

The Ford Mustang convertible is an excellent car for those seeking a convertible however making a statement with a V-8 is not a priority. It still keeps the classic American muscle car feel without costing customers money for a more powerful engine. A good buy for those not willing to drive a more compact, and in my opinion inferior looking, convertible.

  • Not what I thought - 2004 Ford Mustang

I have been wanting a Mustang since 1986. Finally I could afford one. The acceleration and handling are okay. The styling and and sound of the exhaust are awesome, but...the car has been back to the dealer 4 times in three months with engine problems. All is supposedly fixed, but no so. Unfortunately, this was a case of of fantasy being much better than reality. Back to a Honda I guess.

  • Used Car Alternative - 2004 Ford Mustang

I bought a brand new 04 V6 5 speed Mustang as an alternative to a used car because the price was right. It is a very sharp car. Discounts and a new body style on the horizon made this a favorable deal. Wife thinks its fun to drive too - so much so that she offered me her Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd. in exchange. The novelty of the manula transmission only lasted a week or two and she wanted the Jeep back. for the money - the Mustang is a car you can be proud of as opposed to just another econobox. I think it will resale easier too.

  • Matter of the Heart - 2004 Ford Mustang

I was the proud owner of the first 65 Fastback Mustang in San Bernardino county in 1965. Said car was then modified for SCCA track racing. This 2003 Mustang coupe was purchased as a last vehicle type thing (70 years old) just for fun and nostalgia. Its a fun drive, fairly economical and we can get six suitcases/handbags in the truck. Its not going to win any races for me but it is responsive and comfortable.
