This Year's Model Updates:

With an all-new model scheduled for '05, there are few changes for the 2004 Ford Mustang. All models wear commemorative 40th anniversary exterior badging, while V6 and GT models can be ordered with a full 40th anniversary package that includes additional exterior and interior enhancements.

Pros:
  • Available V8 power, variety of trim levels, healthy dose of American attitude.
Cons:
  • Archaic underpinnings, cheap interior materials, choppy ride.

  • I Have two and love them both - 2004 Ford Mustang

I currently own two mustangs, a 2001 performance red 2 door coupe and a 2000 oxford white convertable, both V6s. I have been EXTREMELY pleased with both of my mustangs and would definately promote any new buyer!!! Lets keep the tradition alive!!!!

  • I love my stang - 2004 Ford Mustang

I love my mustang. I have had absolutly no problems with it at all. The only thing that I really dont like is that they are no fun to drive when it rains or snows. Unless you like skidding all over the place, then its an extremely fun car. I love the fact that at a touch of a button the top goes down and you are windblown bound. All and all it is a great car to drive and its cute at that.

  • Power, Power, Handling and Sexy - 2004 Ford Mustang
    By -

From when you first step on the gas pedal till your rational mind lets off the throttle the power never ends. But be careful, the tires will go up in smoke just as easily because of the amazing amount of torque. The handling is superb and smooth because of the independent rear suspension. The seats provide great lateral support and have adjustable thigh and side bolstering. Great V-8 Supercharged power. The best Mustang ever that can compete with vehicles that cost thousands of dollars more. Driving the Cobra puts a smile on my face every time I drive it or just look at it.

  • A Modern Muscle Car - 2004 Ford Mustang

I have owned several mustangs, the last of which was a 1999 GT which I heavily modified. That car (the GT) was faster than my current Cobra but do not fool yourself. John Colletti and SVT have a winner here. The old Mustang goes out on a high note. If you want a kick in the pants mustang with factory perfection and reliability, this is the car. As far as the editor rating on this car (6.7), the editor is an idiot. You cannot touch the attitude or performance and be able to take your (small) kids along for anywhere near the cost.

  • MystiChrome - 2004 Ford Mustang

Awesome car. Power is tremendous. I have the MystiChrome paint that changes colors, as do the seats! Car does have some flex and takes a few minutes to calm down after hard acceleration.

  • Good Car for me - 2004 Ford Mustang
    By -

I have always liked the Ford Mustang. My first and second cars were both Mustangs. Although I am somewhat unhappy with the 2004 (I could not afford the GT), I have more good to say about it than bad. I enjoy driving it daily to and from work. Acceleration is quick with the manual transmission and gas mileage is still pretty good for a V-6. The seats arent the best, but Im not uncomfortable in them.

  • 40th Anniversary Edition - 2004 Ford Mustang
    By -

Bought my wife a mustang after 33 years of her yearning for one. Tried the v- 6, too slow, bought the GT w/ 5 speed. Took a month to adjust the seats right. Turned a 9.3/72 mph in the 1/8th out-of- the-box and that was with an RT of about a year. Super ride, good MPH (27) the most fun car Ive had since 71. No problems in 10000 miles at all. Red line is about 6300 RPM. Excellent, comfortable car.

  • It is what it is - 2004 Ford Mustang

Iv had my 04 Mustang GT a little less then a year now. I pretty much got it as a weekend car. I have only put about 3500 miles on it so far, so I cant really judge the build quality too well. The interior is pretty cheap, with large gaps in a few spots, and the seats are not that comfortable. But it is what it is. No one buys a Mustang thinking its a Cadilac. You know what kind of car your getting in to. Its a farily inexpensive, great looking, fast, pure American Muscle Car. Not too many cars can touch this performance for the price. I would not recomend this as your only car, but as a second car its amazing. Its all a moot point anyway, because the new one are out now.

  • This is truly the most bang for your $$$ - 2004 Ford Mustang

Amzaing power off the line. The supercharger is a little on the loud side but man does it ever get you from 0-60 in 4.7sec. This is my 4th Mustang going back to a 67 and including 2 Fox bodies, and by far the quality of 2004 Cobra surpasses them all. But, lets face it, it is still a Mustang. The car does rattle and hum in weird ways. I was very surprised to see subframe connectors when the car was up on a lift. The exhaust is also a little tame for the car. Invest in an after market exhaust (Steeda makes a really nice one), and go have some fun! Believe me very little on the road will be able to keep up with you.

  • Aw, Not Bad! - 2004 Ford Mustang
    By -

well, ive had this vehicle for 3months now as a used vehicle 2003 with 30,000 miles. its a beautiful car, has adequate power, very nice ride, but im now having to question the mechanical dependability since ive had to put this vehicle in the shop twice. first, the fuel pump had to be replaced after i noticed a "service engine soon" light. 2 weeks later, another "service engine soon" light. now, its the computer system that has to be replaced. one more major repair, and the vehicle goes back. thank goodness, its still under factory warranty!!
