This Year's Model Updates:

With an all-new model scheduled for '05, there are few changes for the 2004 Ford Mustang. All models wear commemorative 40th anniversary exterior badging, while V6 and GT models can be ordered with a full 40th anniversary package that includes additional exterior and interior enhancements.

Pros:
  • Available V8 power, variety of trim levels, healthy dose of American attitude.
Cons:
  • Archaic underpinnings, cheap interior materials, choppy ride.

What a mistake !, uncomfortable seat position, cheap materials & slot car boyish styling. Go back to the 5.0 cause the 4.6 is a dog, Ford tries to fool you with the gaudy muffled sound.

  • Cheap price = Cheap car - 2004 Ford Mustang

Its definately not a sports car, it reminds me of my parents Ford Tempo, if you want a bigger old technology motor, but a good price - this car ios for you. The Mustang is not refined, not very good in the corners comparatively speaking, underwelming looks and cheap material for the interiors. I will not keep this one very long. You do get a cheap car for a cheap price.

The car was ok until it hit 1800 miles. Then a fuel injector problem caused it to shut off while driving at highway speed. A couple of months later, there was a huge puddle of transmission fluid on the garage floor thanks to a faulty rear transmission seal. So I get that fixed only to have the battery go dead a few weeks later. As of this date, the battery has gone dead 5 times and the problem is still not fixed. The dealership has replaced the alternator on one visit. On another visit they replaced the radio and the amplifiers for the MACH 460 sound system. On the 3 other visits they say "cant duplicate concern". Ford = Fix Or Repair Daily.

You know now that I think about it the car is not all that great I hate it. This new type of Mustang is a mok of the old 1968 and 1969 mustang boss hoss and 302. After seeing what the old mustangs look like I think when the spring of 2005 ends Im returning it for a Dodge turbo Neon.

I was excited to finally drive a Mustang, that is why I decided to rent one for a few days. The 6 cyl engine with the automatic tranmission is underpowered. This car is slow and feels heavy. The interior build quality seems very cheap. The plastic holding the window buttons on the drivers side door is already loose (at 14K miles!). I am 62" and the height of the interior seems OK. The seats are alright as well. The 6 disc changer stereo sounds good. I have not tried to remove the top, because it seemed complicated. This might be an OK car, but I would expect much more from a Mustang in terms of performance (even if this is an automatic one).

  • Ford? Never Again! - 2004 Ford Mustang

My wife wanted this pretty red Mustang. We needed a car that gets good gas mileage, and after seeing on the "sticker" that the V-6 was estimated to get 19 city/26 highway, we felt as though this was a good purchase for us. Well, it gets 11 mpg in town. The dealer did troubleshooting on the car, and informed me that it was getting 15 mpg in town, and 25 on the highway. So, the Ford Factory Rep suggested that he fill the tank, drive it for 20 miles or so, then refill the tank and determine the mileage. He got almost 12 miles to the gallon! Thus far, Ford Motor Company refuses to do anything else.

  • DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE! - 2004 Ford Mustang

Ive had NOTHING but problems out of my 04 Cobra. It is the worst car that Ive ever owned. The transmission was replaced before 400 miles. It has more squeaks and rattles than a babys play pen. The motor has a tapp that Ford says is normal. It isnt! I havent been able to get better than 19 mpg out of it yet regardless of driving style. Ford claims it should get 24. The dealerhip is unwilling and unable to fix the problems. I would get the car "lemon lawed" except most of the problems arent considered "major" and wouldnt apply. I have regretted buying this car since I first turned the key which sticks! Im get rid of it as I can! Youve been warned!
